This might be an unpopular opinion, but i think it should be said. Atheists need to be kinder and more open to talking with people. We aren’t getting anywhere when we just shut people down, even if we think we know their arguments.
It’s okay to get frustrated, but that doesn’t give us the right to be rude to other people. We are ALL human, and EVERYONE deserves respectful conversation. We need to start with a more open, loving perspective.
Like, I don’t like talking to people who are always telling me I’m wrong or making me feel dumb, even if they are correct. So why is it okay for us to do that to people who we disagree with?
Even if the other person is wrong, it likely wasn’t their fault that they’re religious. It’s likely just how they were raised. Yeah, some religious people persecute atheists, but that doesn’t give us the right to treat ALL of them like crap. We’re better than that.
A lot of atheists get a lot of crap from religious people. I get that. But we aren’t going to get anywhere if we automatically shut everyone down. We will get nowhere by being rude, closed off, and not willing to have a meaningful conversation.
