As more coaching jobs open up, I hope people help out these 2019 signees. Can't just sit there and hope things go well. Too many moving parts. Does new staff want your kid? Does your kid even like the new staff? Are you vetting other backup options just in case?
WBB jobs are slow to get filled, many wait until after the Women's Final 4, a month from now. I personally think its good to just ask out of a letter of intent early. You can then vet other options, and take visits (Most kids only took 1 of 5 official visits).
Almost every new coach will accept the commits from the old staff, as they don't want to be seen as running kids off. You want to go where you are wanted. If you ask out of LOI, the new staff doesn't feel obligated to recruit you, only if they WANT you. So you find out the truth
If you like the new staff, and the new staff likes you, great, stay with your original commitment. If you don't get good vibes, better to have asked out of LOI now than over a month or two later when schools fill up their 2019 class.
