#DoomPatrol

Finished episode three over the weekend and having AVM at the end was freaking incredible.

The Brain and Monsieur Mallah should be EASY to do compared to this freaking guy.

I want this show to go on for years! I sincerely hope we get some Danny the Street (I cant help but feel episode one was unknowingly his origin) and without a doubt a solid helping “Hero Of The Beach” Flex Mentallo!

You know the #DoomPatrol has been through more resurrected and reincarnated more than any other team I can think of.

For those who don’t know - the original team died. Sacrificing themselves to save a small fishing village.

The only survivor of this was apparently Cliff - being nothing more than a brain in a steel can he has proven to be difficult to kill

Sure the 2nd DP has the negative being who moved bodies to Vostok, but Cliff is the only 1 to “walk away” from the explosion that killed his team

This is when I first “found” the Doom Patrol.

The scant remnants of the Doom Patrol join together to track down the teams murderers.

This was a really adult story. They take Madame Rouge and General Zahl down with extreme prejudice:

The second Doom Patrol eventually disbanded and was brought back together to find Larry and the Chief when they discover those team members may still be alive.

This is when I really got into the Doom Patrol.

That series got really weird.

Like too weird.

I mean the Chiefs head was literally ripped off his body by a demonic creature and survived in a tray of ice cubes on nothing but chocolate milkshakes.

Eventually - the team goes off to a well deserved rest.

Seven long years later we get this incarnation.

Not my favorite, but not my least favorite.

The best part about this version?

The Cliff Steele included in the first 9 (?) issues is literally a figment of another DP members imagination given corporeal form.

This iteration continued the Vertigo runs chronology while setting off in a more traditional superhero comic.

It was sadly short lived. It petered our in less than two years.

The next version was - I’ll say it - my least favorite.

It was the traditional original Doom Patrol.

Unfortunately this version had no history. They were retconned back to a brand new team.

This didn’t help them either tho as the series ended in 18 issues.

Then - we get another retcon.

The team returns once again with most of their convoluted history returned to them.

I genuinely enjoyed this version. Giffen and team understood the Doom Patrol and mixed in new elements that expanded and celebrated their history.

Again - a very short lived series not even making it two full years.

I just about gave up hope until I heard Gerard Way was bringing them back as part of the new Young Animals imprint at DC.

This version has elements of EVERY version of the Doom Patrol.

It’s funky. It’s fun.

It’s on hiatus and I am PRAYING it comes back.

The Doom Patrol deserves a little love. They’ve been kicked around they’re entire existence.

I live what you’ve done with the team @TBonvillain @NickDerington @gerardway please don’t let the Doom Patrol be forgotten again.
