I just need a place to keep track of all the movies I've watched. *shrugs*
Mona Lisa Smile (2003) is about a free thinking art teacher who moves to another state to teach at a private girls school. Conflict arises when she realizes that the school was merely the next stop until marriage for her students. Julia Roberts is in it. :)
Mona Lisa Smile was a good movie. It was engaging and made me cry a little at the end.
The Sunset Limited is another good watch. The movie centers around a man who attempts suicide and the man who saved his life. They are the only characters in this tv film, but it is an interesting watch.
Flipped (2010) is a coming-of age film and it is super cute! The story follows two eighth graders love story. Julie, who has a big heart and eyes for only Bryce, and Bryce who is introverted and likes to keep as far away from Julie as possible. Opposites attract in this one.
Submarine (2011) I don't know what it is about British comedy, but I love it. Also a coming of age movie, but it is a bit more realistic. Awkward and definitely funny. You will laugh when you watch this one.

P.S. the teenagers look like teenagers.
The Edge of Seventeen (2016) It was alright. The teacher was my favourite.
It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) and it really is. A 16 year old man young man checks himself in to a mental-health clinic and meets some interesting people including a girl. Good laughs for sure.
The Fundamentals of Caring (2016) A movie about someone with a disorder? I thought this would be a tear-jerker, but it was the opposite. It is very funny, makes you think and leaves you with a positive message as well.
Silver Linings Playbook (2012) I saw this years ago. They dance a little. They talk about being outcasts in society, and their emotional/mental health issues. From what I remember, it was an okay watch.
The Perks of Being A Wildflower (2012)

"We accept the love we think we deserve."
Warm, comedic, tragic and depressing. A good watch.
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

Quirky, creative and funny. The visuals are good and different. I doubt you've seen anything like it before.
The Triplets of Belleville (2003) If you like foreign, animation, French and a plot that seems off at first, but is totally worth it at the end, then watch this one. At first it was sweet then it was badass!
Atonement (2007) Beautiful costumes, beautiful scenes, beautiful actors, to offset the drama and sad romance the story-line reveals to viewers. A young girl has a crush on the man her older sister loves. She learns how stories can affect other's lives, especially a lie.
The Lunchbox (2013) "Sometimes even the wrong train can take you to the right destination." A wife tries to win over a cheating husband through her cooking, but a mix-up causes a stranger to receive her lunchbox. He sends a thank you note and we follow it from there.
Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

If you don't cry after seeing this then I highly suggest you seek therapy.
The Help (2017) based off a book

"Eat my shit." Pay back can be sweet! This movie isn't about that though.

Water for Elephants (2011)

A former vet student joins the circus and helps to take care of the show animals. He falls for the ringmaster's wife and breaks my heart in the process, but whatever.

P.S. If you hurt animals then you are the reason why God should come for us now.
Eat Pray Love (2010)

Eat, pray, love, isn't that all we really want after a bad break-up? Good food, spiritual guidance, protection and strength and love. Mix it with adventure in different countries and you have the cure for heartbreak. Romantic, funny and somewhat honest.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Do they make them like this any more?

A man is royally screwed in love. He ends up in prison, meets a friend. You root for him to make it out, cry a bit, cringe a bit and laugh too.

Screw those prison guards.
The Green Mile (1999)

Why? Why? Why? He didn't deserve that. Stereotypes are overrated.
Hidden Figures (2016)

Black excellence. Woman power. Our stories are being told. I hope it inspires young black girls to major in S.T.E.M. fields and motivates older women in those fields to give it their best.
Miracles from Heaven (2016)

A family's faith is challenged when their youngest daughter is diagnosed with cancer. The movie follows the family and how they deal with the different situations that this causes. You will probably cry after watching this one.

Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Excuse the language in this one, but man it felt good to see a Jew pay back Hitler and his minions like this. It's long, so watch it with a friend and lots of popcorn.
Maleficient (2014)

A different take on an OG Disney villain. The story of Maleficient the fairy, before she cursed the king's daughter. After watching the film, I mean, can you blame her?
Rise of the Guardians (2012)

Jack Frost likes to spread jot with hia snow days, but struggles with loneliness and feeling underappreciated. Then he is recruited by the Guardians to help save Christmas. The sandman is badass and the animation is beautiful!
Man of Steel (2013)

"For some, he was a guardian angel. For others, a ghost, who never quite fit in."

How did Superman come to be? Watch his journey as he accepts and faces his otherness to help mankind.
Also, the cinematography, costume, casting, acting, *chef kiss* wow!
Julie and Julia (2009)

Julie blogs her attempts at recreating Julia's cookbook recipes, and we watch the daily lives of each lady and their connection through their love of food.

(Meryl Streep is in it. That is all.)
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The sass, the style, the dialogue, Meryl Streep!

Sigh, it's a little sad.
The Silenced (2015)

In this Korean thriller, a young girl is transferred to a boarding to school to recover her health. As she improves, she notices something is off. Classmates go missing and investigating only leads to more concerning information.

Pay attention for this one.
Avatar (2009)

Blue people who show us how humans are supposed to love and coexist with all creations, but alas, we don't. That's not what it's about, but that's one of my take ways from the movie. That and God can come for us now tbqh.

What's yours?
(The score is amazing too!)
Shazam (2019)

An accurate depiction of what a child with superpowers would do. If you need a laugh, this is a good one.
Pitch Perfect (2012)

"I like the way you work it, no diggity, I gotta bag it up!"

Cheesy to some, funny to others. I like it and the singing.
Den of Thieves (2018)

Dude. Duuude! Plot-fricking twist!

Mind you I watched this in theatres without seeing a preview or trailer. It was unbiased experience. I did not see that plot twist coming!
My Last Day Without You (2011)

Nicole Beharie plays a Brooklyn singer-songwriter trying to make a life of her own. Ken Duken plays a German businessman who is in the city for one day to do one job. The two have a chance encounter and find out how their lives interconnect.
Sins of the Mother (2010)

This was a tear-jerker (watch with tissues)
1. Relatable
2. Nicole and Jill Scott are great in this
3. Graduate, Shay reluctantly returns home to deal with her burn-out and stress from school. There she faces her abusive, alcoholic, absentee mother.
Mr. Church (2016)

Eddie Murphy stars as a mysterious cook for a young girl and her ailing mother. Their lives change forever as they co-exist.
Miss Congeniality

An anti-beauty FBI agent (Ms. Hunt) goes undercover at a beauty pageant to catch a criminal.

I love how awkward she is, but still pulls through in the end by taking her role seriously.

Plus, girl power!
Paddington

Adorable! 😊 I love this movie. It's family friendly, funny and I'd recommend watching when it rains with a nice hot beverage.

Paddington moves to London to find an old family friend. A family takes him to help, but mayhem arises as a result.
Sherlock Holmes

Mystery? ✔ Sleuthing? ✔Humour? ✔British accents?✔Elementary dear Watson?✔

Another movie version of Arthur Conan Doyle's old detective book series, but I quite like this one.
John Wick

Yes. Yes. Yes. YES!

Why would you kill a retired assassin's dog and steal his Mustang? Are you nuts?

On another note, can you really retire from a life of crime? Will it always come back to haunt you? Five ⭐s for how badass this film is.
