In Sikhism, Knowledge/Wisdom is Guru. Wisdom is God. There is no separate God that you need to pray to. You just need to gain wisdom. But instead, we are not only praying to some different God(like Muslims, Christians etc), we have even turned SGGS into idol and r worshipping it.
First, everyone needs to understand this regarding Gurbani:

If someone thinks Prahlaad, Dhru can’t mean anything like that, then, here is a verse from Gurbani regarding “Janak”. One can simply get an idea that Gurus gave alternate definitions of mythological or even historical figures
Before moving further, let me tackle an often asked question: Why did Gurus use such “complicated” terminology when they could have just straight forward use solimple terms? This is why people think that Prahlaad has to mean real mythological figure. Well, the thing is
same logic can be and is probably used by Hindus to claim that Ram, Shyaam Sundar in Gurbani means Sri Ram Chand, Krishna etc. But, we always tackle them.Why?Because, over the years, we have been told by people who have read Gurbani that Ram of Gurbani generally means Akal Purakh
One of the reason for that is this line too:
ਰਾਮਾ ਰਮ ਰਾਮੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ॥
ਸਰਬ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਰਾਮ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Now, Sri Ram Chand is not everywhere. Who is, according to Gurbani? Akal Purakh.
So, Gurus probably used the terms that were famous among the audiences
So, it would be easier for prople to understand. If you will just throw them abuse at their gods, they probably won’t listen. You can use people’s mythology against them. Maybe, these things do depend on time too. Therr could be many reasons for that.
But, main point to understand is that just like we know Ram means Akal Purakh, we should consider that maybe, other things or even God itself has a different meaning. Gurbani has a lot of definitions, although not all, but idea is there
Just because some people got definition of Raam right, doesn’t mean they got everything in Gurbani right, but, we just tend to believe what we are told and now, we say that Gurus should have just “simple” words. Poetry isn’t like that.
If that was the case, ask Kabir Ji, What is ਸੱਸ, ਦੇਵਰ here and Why didn’t he just use simple words?
ਸਾਸੁ ਕੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਸਸੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੇਠ ਕੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਡਰਉ ਰੇ ॥
So, try to defuce Gurbani from within SGGS. There are some metaphors we easily get, like:
ਮਨੁ ਤਉ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਿਓ ਨਿਕਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਕੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੫੮॥
ਮੈਗਲੁ means ਹਾਥੀ, but not here. Here, it just means ego/ਅਹੰਕਾਰ and elephant being big in size, ego is big, so the metaphor
Why don’t we say that Guru is talking about real elephant? We get the context. Similarly, whole SGGS has context. Sometimes, even in Shabads, we deduce some lines according to 1 context and other lines of same Shabad acc to diff context. That’s wrong. I will give examples later
But, in real life, some of you might have heard that ਇਹ ਬੱਚਾ ਬੜਾ ਗਊ ਆ, does that mean the kid is real cow. No, cow means innocence, virtues. Even Gurbani has a line:
ਖਿਮਾ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਊ ਲਵੇਰੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਛਰਾ ਖੀਰੁ ਪੀਐ ॥
ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਸਹਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਤੇ ਜਿਗਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ,ਇਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਲਵੇਰੀ ਗਾਂ
But, still in Naamdev Ji’s Shabad, we somehow deduce that he brought dead cow alive:
ਬਿਸਮਿਲਿ ਗਊ ਦੇਹੁ ਜੀਵਾਇ ॥
No,he is saying that he has got his dead virtues back.Another reason to deduce this way is that this way will actually help us in our lives,that literal story is of no use
