Another example (if you really needed it) that Facebook is an American geopolitical weapon. https://twitter.com/RaniaKhalek/status/1096698518700507137
The private-public censorship command chain here is very interesting: the state-funded German Marshall Fund (backed by USAID, NATO, State Department, Germany, etc) snitched to CNN. CNN snitched to Facebook. Facebook banned the pages.
Surveilllance billionaire / @theintercept owner @pierre funds USG’s outsourced censorship snitches at @gmfus through his “Democracy Fund.”

Something tells you won’t read about this at the Intercept...
Not surprised that @RFERL, the old CIA spinoff, is not transparent about its US government funding on its Facebook page. But something tells me that Facebook won’t be giving it the same treatment...

Hint: Both Facebook and @RFERL are instruments of American imperial power.
Might as well plug my book here, which is the only book you'll read looks at how the Internet was developed as a weapon — going back to 1960s, when it emerged from the Pentagon: https://surveillancevalley.com
Reminder that Facebook is a happy member of America's corrupt national security apparatus — and one of the largest backers of the Atlantic Council: https://twitter.com/yashalevine/status/1028749114694094849
On the whole, these crude attempts to censor foreign-funded media outlets is a sign of American weakness and fear. Our country doesn't even have an idealistic counter-narrative it can sell anymore, however empty.
The Internet has long been used to spread influence and propaganda by American corps and political factions. For a while I tried keeping a running list of these domestic internet influence ops. But gave up. There are just way too many of them. https://mobile.twitter.com/yashalevine/status/942449467030163457
Just decided to check and, yep, @radiosvoboda *does not disclose* that it is a U.S. government media property on http://VK.com , Russia's Facebook.

I sent Facebook a question about its censorship of Maffick and its double standard on transparency: https://twitter.com/yashalevine/status/1100097035745853444
