Oh yeah. Forgot I had a thread to do. Uhh here it is! I’m rewatching Bleach and commentating as I go.
I haven’t watched Bleach since I first saw it in 2014. That was my “I finally have my own computer, let’s marathon all the long anime” phase.
A lot of people love the first opening. But my favorite is the ninth one (Velonica). That’s actually my all time favorite opening as well. Favorite ending is Golden Wind’s Freek N You (because it’s a classic from 90s R&B group Jodeci)
It’s doesn’t come up much, but I thought Kon’s backstory was interesting. Not original, but still something to think about.
How did I forget all of this? I shipped Ichigo and Tatsuki really hard for a while. That was actually my only Bleach pair for a bit. Nothing like a childhood tomboy friend.
Out of all the Shounen giants, I think Ichigo has one of the better backstories that I’ve seen. It’s very impactful and relatable, more than I can say for Naruto or some other shows. Even his name bears significance and complements his character.
I’ll pause here for tonight, but I’m glad they went the route of getting to know the main character early. Shows like One Piece took way too long to establish Luffy entirely so I never really cared about him or his drive.
Wait a minute...is Uryu’s Japanese voice actor the same person who voices Sasuke?? I never knew that! (Originally watched the English dub, which had Shino’s English V/O)
Also the Quincy backstory was so weird. They wanted to kill Hollows, but the Soul Society took them out. Why??
I do like the design of the basic Hollows. The faces range from kinda creepy to humorous and nonsensical.
A detail I didn’t notice before, I like this reasoning for Orihime’s powers manifesting. I remember this power being wasted throughout the series, but I thought it had a lot of potential.
Since I’ll be back to work the next three days, the thread will proceed rather slowly. But I’m enjoying Bleach again. I should’ve joined the fandom much sooner.
A brief Nanao appreciation post here and there. I think she’s one of my earliest crushes. Especially one with a serious side.
No wonder the captain teases her so much. Even when making such threatening looks, Nanao is just absolutely adorable in a way.
I never really cared about race when it came to anime, but Yoruichi will always be one of the OG favorites for black anime fans like myself.
He really does sound like a kid. But I still prefer the English dub voice (because it’s Steve Staley).
The Gin/Rangiku pairing...its such an odd pairing to me, that I didn’t even notice its existence until I came to know some Bleach roleplayers here.
I’m roughly 60 episodes in. I’m somehow surprised at how quickly everyone turned from chasing Ichigo to stopping Aizen. He definitely should’ve gotten away with it, especially if he knew Ichigo and friends were on their way.
I was wondering how Aizen changed his hair all this time. But all he did was slick it back. And somehow only one lock remained.
I think I hit filler territory so I’ll pause here. I remember Orihime receiving tons of hate along with Rukia. I’ll defend my girls as best I can.
Since Masteranime is shutting down and pulling all their episodes, I moved back to Kissanime. Still full of ads but at least I can watch episodes no problem. Also I skipped the filler since I kinda remembered that arc.
I kinda missed this plot twist the first time. Though it’s not much of a twist than a little development.
Oh yeah! I forgot about the Visored. Creepy-smiling Hirako, foul mouthed Hiyori, and the rest of the gang.
I’ll probably talk about this later, but I never understood the Ulquiorra/Orihime pairing. Especially with what it’s grounded on, plot-wise.
Sweet! Finally got to Nel’s appearance. I kinda forgot what happens to her in this arc. She was there for a good chunk and gone the next.
I remember this fight! And how weird it was that there’s just a large room with only raised pillars in it.
The Bleach thread is back! And I’m on episode 200. Which means my favorite opening is on, and we’re just starting the Karakura Invasion arc.
This guy was probably my least favorite character. Definitely my least favorite Espada. But I do remember his ending.
Case in point, seeing things from the zanpakuto point of view. How they viewed their owners and how they look outside of their weird form.
I hated this character. Not just because of the abuse towards Orihime, but the last second decency to her character didn’t save it either.
This is probably one of my favorite sub-boss battles in the show. If the captains and the Visored didn’t stop him, he would’ve taken everyone down.
I didn’t expect Aizen to give up on those he recruited that easily. But he does have a trail of dead homies at this point.
Tosen has probably my least favorite forms. First he’s Slenderman with an insert coin slot, then this bug creature that reminds me of one of the Tailed Beasts.
I never understood Aizen’s plan and how it revolves around Ichigo. It’s not like he set those things in motion. Most of the time he watched. There’s a lot that could go wrong there.
This was some great filler/movie promotion. When I zoom in on Rangiku I laugh at that face she’s making
The Halloween and 10 year anniversary episodes were pretty good. Bleach fillers can be a little rough, but some of them are quality.
Still slowly getting to the main event. Once Gin’s backstory is over, he’ll be the last mini boss to defeat.
I can see why people didn& #39;t like this final fight. But I& #39;m okay with it. But the Mugetsu attack was pretty cool. Maybe in the next 20,000 years, we& #39;ll get a second showdown.
Me whenever I see photos of @txicmelody13
Getting down to the final 20 episodes. I swear the quality and art style changed three times in this one episode.
I completely forgot about Riruka! Who, as I& #39;ve been reminded, is probably the best/worst tsundere ever.
They haven& #39;t had a ton of screen time, but I do like the growth and development of Karin and Yuzu. They both care for their older brother in similar ways and they play a part in Ichigo& #39;s growth as well.
The Fullbring arc admittedly is kinda lame, but it has its good parts. For instance, I’d probably wear Ichigo’s outfit for Halloween.
The Xcution battles were sort of a waste. At the same time, most of them hadn’t done much so they may as well had one last battle.
