You know that you can do good in Africa to help other less fortunate Africans without advertising it?

I hate self serving promotion of “philanthropy” or impact work.
Most of the time the people I see advertising their “good work” are also grant funded themselves and it is really an advertisement for more grants. It makes the whole exercise questionable. In the Middle East, I see companies devote part of their budget to charity. Zero adverts.
One of the “for profit” consulting companies that I respect a lot based out of Dubai does more charitable work than most NGOs. It is part of their corporate philosophy for every partner to devote 10% of earnings to charity via local channels. I didn’t know until we tried to merge
I personally believe it is irresponsible to humiliate the poor and rob them of dignity while trying to promote yourself. Let gratitude be on its own and enough reward.
When you give … do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing” (Matthew 6:3).
