I got @JohnDubyaUK a 100 movie bucket list for Xmas (actually 104 with 2 trilogies on the list) and I’m starting a thread of each movie when we watch them!
This is it framed and before anything is scratched off.
We scratched off the first film tonight which was Jaws - one we’ve both seen before. Brilliant portrayal of Brody, Hooper and Quint. Love this film https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ‘đŸ»" title="Thumbs up (light skin tone)" aria-label="Emoji: Thumbs up (light skin tone)">
Film 2... Mary & Max. Neither of us had seen this or knew anything about it. Such a beautiful and stylised film that had me belly laughing one second and was pulling on my heart strings the next! A complex and well written story that left me in tears.
Film 3: a classic horror that I’ve never seen or knew much about. Amazing cast and an incredible story. Fabulous!
Film 4: This is Spinal Tap. I knew some references from pop culture, but this is such a funny film. One to probably watch again to catch the more subtle jokes, but easy to see why it is a classic from its time!
Film 6: The Silence Of The Lambs. After spending days watching stuff about Chris Watts and the Netflix series on Ted Bundy, watching this was right up our current theme. I went into it not knowing anything (except a couple of quotes), and it wasn’t what I expected. LOVED IT ALL!
Film 7: this was the first Bond film I ever saw the whole way through when it originally came out, and I loved it. I still enjoyed this many years later, and makes me want to watch all the Daniel Craig films all over again. (Also did an oopsie and caught the side of ghostbusters)
Film 8: Airplane! Hadn’t seen this since I was a child, and it still holds up as such a hilarious comedy, where the jokes don’t get stale even when repeated throughout. Surely is a 10/10 and well deserved to be on the list (and don’t call me Shirley)
Film 9: Monty Python’s Life of Brian. Watched it in Wales so long ago! So funny, not a first watch for me but didn’t remember half of it! Classic comedy and still relevant in this day and age.
Film 10: American Psycho. Never seen this or knew much about it, just knew of the gifs and memes. Bale is an outstanding actor, and was absolutely convincing. Will have to watch again and will be thinking of what happened near the end though it all got crazy!
Film 11: 12 Angry Men. If someone had said this whole film was basically one long argument I probably would never have watched it or been interested... I was absolutely hooked the whole way through. Brilliantly written and shot with amazing acting throughout! 10/10
Film 12: the Truman Show. What a cracking film! Still amazing since the first time I watched it. Absolutely nails human behaviour and the question of our existence.
We’d watched a little while ago a couple of films on our top 100 list and it wasn’t until looking today that I realised I hadn’t posted them on this thread https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïž" title="Woman facepalming (light skin tone)" aria-label="Emoji: Woman facepalming (light skin tone)"> so here they are:
Film 13: The Evil Dead. Not my favourite horror film but was quite funny just with the outdated special effects. Hadn’t seen this before but can see why it’s iconic.
Film 14: The Shining. I love this film so much. Can’t even tell you how many times I’ve watched it now https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Face with tears of joy" aria-label="Emoji: Face with tears of joy"> Jack Nicholson blows me away every time I watch it
Film 15: The Big Lebowski. Neither me or John had seen this before but can’t tell you why! This is an absolute masterpiece of a film! So funny, and outstanding performances all around.
