Interview with a cult member: a thread.
Cults have been around forever. Some might not he as extreme or as popular as others, but they all have the same characteristics in common:
2. Exclusivism
The belief that they are the only ones to have the truth.
The belief that they are the only ones to have the truth.
3. Isolationism
Often cults force members to cut ties with family members. As well as do they create strong defensive boundaries, and sometimes a cult can lead to tragic endings.

For this thread, I interviewed a member from one of the most popular cults to exist. A member of Heaven’s Gate.
Heaven’s Gate was founded in 1974. It was lead by Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles.
Now if you don’t know the tea about them, lemme quickly spill it so that we can move along...
They were heavily ignored by mainstream media until the mass suicide. Yes you read that right.
Applewhite claimed that a spacecraft was trailing Comet Hale-Bopp and convinced 38 of his followers to commit suicide so that their souls could board the supposed craft.
The reason you may ask? Well Applewhite believed that after their deaths, a UFO would take their souls to another level of existence above human. He described it as being both a new physical and spiritual state of existence.
I’m not going to go in how they did it nor where they did it or go over anything else because that would take a while. So without further ado here is the interview:
Also by the way the interview was done by email and the interviewee wasn’t comfortable with giving out any of their personal info like name, age etc so disregard that.
Where you aware of where the cult was heading, did you have a feeling that it would end the way it did?
LMAO I CANT BELIEVE I ACTUALLY ASKED THEM THAT LIKE WHAT WAS I EXPECTING.
Lastly, what would you tell someone who is considering joining Heaven’s Gate Cult or any cult in general?
That concludes the interview.
I didn’t take as much of this as I was expecting to, tobe honest, but it was a very interesting experience.
You have reached the end of this thread. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Bye!
