A haiku about #ImposterSyndrome

Feeling insecure
Validation does little
Am I good enough?

#TheAnswerIsYes
A haiku about #PhysicianBurnout

Pressures all around
Expectations out of reach
I just want to sleep

Note: I am not a physician. This was inspired by things I’ve read and conversations I’ve had.
A haiku about #Empathy

Share my emotions
Understand my circumstance
Show me you get it

Empathy is important for patient care. See the cognitive, affective & behavioural facets in the poem? Moral empathy is not depicted here - much like its relative absence in #MedEd literature.
A haiku about #Rejection

I tried my hardest
Faceless minions sealed my fate
No way I can win

Really enjoying this #haiku series. It's a chance for me to highlight important topics in a creative way. #poetry #MedHum
A haiku about #SelfCare

If you’re feeling drained
Slow down and smell the roses
You deserve a break

#LoveYourself #BKTY #SelfLove #TLC
A haiku about #WorkLifeBalance

Walking a tightrope
Risk of falling with each step
No one to catch me

There’s a thin line between having it all together & not. It can feel like addressing one side is at the expense of the other. So we keep walking - hoping for a perfect balance.
A haiku about #MentalHealth

Little did you know
A caged bird sings in my head
Hoping you will hear

We can’t see how mental health struggles affect people unless they tell us. As a society, we need to create a community where people feel safe enough to #BellLetsTalk about them.
A haiku about #WaitTimes (patient’s perspective)

Waiting patiently
White coats brush by in a blur
When will my turn come?

Wait times are a huge issue in our healthcare system. Patients can spend many hours waiting to see a physician, often placing them in much discomfort.
A haiku about #CaRMS2019

Awaiting my fate
Algorithms took the wheel
I did what I could

Disclaimer: I don’t know how it feels to match or not. I was inspired by #MATCHDAY tweets.

Congrats to those who matched! Sorry to those who didn’t. You‘re all great – it’s not your fault.
A haiku about #Vaccines

Protecting yourself
Training your immune system
Protects others too

As a community of students, HPs, researchers, scholars, etc., we need to do better in educating the public about how and why #VaccinesWork
A haiku about #Motivation

When I need you most
You find ways to hide from me
Hope to see you soon

To the Twitterverse, I hope you find the motivation to push through whatever it is you have to do :)
