I watched a documentary the other day called “active measures” and basically since then, I’ve been wondering how much outrage online is real and how much is manufactured in a Russian troll farm. That’s why my engagement with serious topics online has been so minimal lately.
Of course, not all online outrage is manufactured or exacerbated by Russian trolls, but a lot of it is, and it’s just like...you gotta figure out what is and what isn’t.
That Gillette outrage? Idk...but creating a deeper division between feminists (basically just decent people) and others before a presidential election where left and right are already lightyears apart seems...... знакомый.....
Idk I guess just finding out how many shares and likes Russian troll farm-made pages for social justice stuff got made me super uneasy about contributing.
