A thread of Mamamoo being one of the best role model of this century

(Disclaimer : I'm not an english speaker, it's possible that this thread will be filled with spelling mistakes, be kind, don't look at it)
Mamamoo's support to mental health and general well being
Mamamoo often answer to fan, to their struggles etc. the fancafé is also a place for fans to share their struggles and find a community which will care and help them (the fancafé is for example a known place where LGBT+ fans talk openly about their struggles as LGBT+).
Moonbyul answer to a struggling and depressed fans. Moonbyul often answer to fan, she check a lot on fan and take care of them a lot.
This answer was really inspiring for me who went through a lot of hardships some times ago.
The answer of Hwasa to a suicidal fan.
It wasn't easy for Hwasa to answer to this call for help, it's never easy to answer to an heartfelt call for help because each words weight so much, but she did care for this fan and took the time to weight each words and answer.
Mamamoo support to body issues and fight to change beauty standards
Hwasa always advocate for people to love themselves, accept their own beauty and ‘’to decide of those standards on your own'’, she struggled so much this years, she also often talkes about the hate she received for being too chubby, too curvy, too dark, too "all-out on stage".
Mamamoo also created/produced a whole song to celebrate and make people join themselves to the long and difficult journey to sled love and acceptance.
I remember this song came out when in summer when I was starving myself to get the "perfect body", this really helped me a lot.
This song was so inspiring for so many women that Malala (peace upon her for the beautiful work she is doing) put this song into her playlist.
This lead us to another point that seem extremely important to me as a women actively fighting against sexism.
Mamamoo has proven multiple time that they do care of how women are treated and the social norms their go through because of patriarchy.
Hwasa :
- Always spread self-love arround women and darkskinned women
- Stay fierce, confidant and wears what she wants and show her sexy and fatal side despite the numerous critics
- Made history with their first MAMA Award
(The MAMA performance that trended for days, showing Hwasa careless attitude against netizens and their hate for women and human being in general)
Solar :
- Don't diet, preach chubby cheeks and self love.
-Want to show different kind of vibe and prove a woman isn't only 1 personality traits but rather a mix of many goals and personalities traits
-Learned pole dance to treat her back injury and performed while doing poled dance on mutliple National Award. Proved that pole dance can be done by any women and doesn't equate the "selling" of women (if you think it does, you have been influenced by sexism)
Moonbyul :
- Has been wearing pants since day-1 proving that a women can be pretty/handsome with some masculinity and still being feminine and a woman. Always preach about the right to hide what women want to wear
- Was gifted a feminist book, read it and liked it.
-Suport MarryMond (an association that help the creation and protection of the confort women's memory) a lot
WheeIn
-Chose what she wear, prove that she can be her own standards of beauty
-Her firt solo song "Easy", talks about chosing for yourself in a relationship and cutting off bad relationships
(I don't have a lot to say on WheeIn, all my content on her was deleted T-T)
And here is a little gif from MMTV2 when they met this half naked woman and danced and took photos with her. I find it really beautif and it proves once again Mamamoo's acceptation of all women
Now, we'll talk of another fight for minorities and minorized people, the fight for LGBT+
Mamamoo in 2016 performed at the Melon Music Award (one of the most watched award show) with The Pinky Cheeks, a genderfluid dancer group. This was a first time for such an award show to welcome a genderfluid group. This day, Mamamoo won my heart of LGBT+.
Other Mamamoo's LGBT+ support
The first and second pic is about Harisu, the third one is Mamamoo with a Pinky Cheeks dancer, and the last one is Moonbyul thoughts on genres groups and concept.
Now, we'll talk of a things often overlooked, physical disabilities. Mamamoo has proven over the past years to care for their fans with hearing and sight disabilities.
For exemple, WheeIn talked to this deaf fan with sign language, helped her with the other members and also taught some sign language to her other members
After this, Mamamoo released a new version of the Moobong (Mamamoo Lightstick). Here is a little explaination of why it's important and why it concerns people with sight and hearing disabilities

+Starry Night choreography
After a fans said on the fancafé that they couldn't understand what Mamamoo did on Vlive broadcast, they personally asked for Vlive to provide subtitles, while waiting for this MooMoo translated it to the fans regularly and checked on them
Those things seem little to you maybe, but to many people with disabilities it can mean the world to be included like this
Now, here is things I found that I found amazing and worth being in this thread of Mamamoo being role model, because, this is a model for me.
This pic are :
-The female/male ratio on viewing rates
-The lyrics of Ahh Oop
-What Mamamoo had to say about the critics on Solar pole dancing by sexist and fake feminist
-And how Hwasa felt when she received hate comments and this thread show how she overcame it
This pic has been taken when Mamamoo performed at a Lezjin (a website that publish webcomics and pay the author with the money collected from subscription and ads) event, those events are often boycotted because the website host LGBT+ webcomics and events.
Moonbyul's tattoo ''N'oublie pas de t'aimer'' un French (you don't know how much I'm happy to see Moonbyul using my language to spread such a beautiful message) which means ''Don't forget to love yourself''
A thread of Mamamoo being true angels https://twitter.com/ddongbyullie/status/912202784048480256?s=19
Moonbyul message of self-love. I find it really inspiring that she gives such message of strong character, it's really beautiful
Hwasa caption at the end of her MV Becalm.
It's truly a beautiful caption, so inspiring and motivating, I often watch this MV when I have the blues, this sentence give so much strength
Hwasa with multicultural dancers. A rarity in the Kpop game unfortunately
More of Hwasa saying fuck to netizen and beauty standards

Break the standards, f*ck off normativity and social box
Here are Mamamoo's effort to learn more about other culture as well as Mamamoo's growth concerning minorities awareness (more should follow).
Mamamoo is aware that they're not educated enough and should learn more about social issues and they take time to do it before doing smt.
Here is more of Hwasa doing what she wants and being a confident woman like every other Mamamoo's members.
And here is more of Mamamoo supporting the LGBT+ community (my gay hearth is crying)
Here is a little tweet explaining the way I see Mamamoo's action towards women's issues and feminism and their title of ''Girl Crush''
And here is more for the LGBT+ community, it's not a lot, but added to the other things, it makes my lesbian hurt flutter
Also, I think it's worth adding those little actions of inclusion.
I know it's not big, but it's a start, and I hope that more and more POC and minorities will be included in K-pop MV
(The MV is GoGoBeBe)
When Mamamoo were in Jakarta, they stopped their rehearsal to let their fans do the prayer.
They also started the fan meeting later to let their fans pray, it seems little to you maybe, but it's really important and is a showcase of religious/cultural respect often overlooked.
The last picture is from the behind the scene photos. It shows Mamamoo in traditional clothes.
It's really beautiful to see artist pay respect to the culture of the country, and for once, not using a culture as an '''aesthetic'''.
Hwasa's experience with beauty standards.
Setting new standards, herself is enough, and that's beautiful and absolutely needed.
Now, here is Moonbyul's experience with gendered roles, and more.

Not that much, but still inspiring.
Here is the tread of Hwasa's stories with social expectations. I already put some extract in the thread, but honestly, this thread just sums up the unbreakable bond between Hwasa's character, music, and her members and family.

hwasa: anyone has likes or dislikes. no matter how I'm criticized, in the end I'm going to sing in front of those people. I'm so happy standing on this stage itself, that I plan on just singing foolishly and happily, and leaving after living passionately.

Moonbyul with gender expectations and what a woman is required to wear.
MMM is the best representation of what society expect from women : be sexy, but not too much. When Hwasa is wearing revealing clothes she is a sl*t, when Moonbyul wears pants she is prude or a d*ke for netz.
Here is again a message from Moonbyul for a suicidal fans.
It takes courage to share emotions and the feeling of ending it all, but it also needs courage to find the right words for someone experiencing those feelings.
WheeIn have experienced for years depression and insomnia, she has spoken about mental health issues, in Secret Unnie, on the fancafé, in her songs etc. SK has a real struggle w/ mental health, the rate of suicide is the highest in the world, talking about it publicy is important
WheeIn has often talked about how much her worries and stress have often led her to insomnia, she first talked about it on public TV in Secret Unnie.
Here, she talks about the difficulties she has experienced to live up to other's expectations for celebrities, and how much her self-esteem has lowered throughout the years.

#WHEEIN_25
As the videoclip depicts, she is actively trying to find a way to heal, to find what is good or not for her.

She talks about this journey to healing and self-love in her new MV "25" (her age).

In it, she talks about her difficulties to talk about her struggles.

#WHEEIN_25
She also talks about the overflowing emotions, worries, negative feelings she experiences.

#WHEEIN_25
But, she also talks about her journey to healing.

"It's not bad, getting used to now. Because the cozy wind is blowing too", is reference to herself, because wheeIn sounds like the word "wind", she is the own able to bring herself happiness and found her balance.

#WHEEIN_25
She is actively trying to find a way to heal and find her balance in this world.
She always encourage her fans to find their own balance in this world, through fancafé and this MV, she is trying to help her fans to do so.

#WHEEIN_25
Now,
I want to tackle a little bit the issue of colorism.
Because Hwasa have suffered from it for years.
When she says she wants to instaure new standards, it's not only about face and body figure, it's also about complexion.
People during her childhood used to think she was a bad child just because she was darker.
People used to use nickname to degrade her skin tone.

#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
Even up to her rookie days, MC still used jokes against her skin color. And knetz used to say shit like "Her skin looks so dark it seems it smell".

Still, she has always refused to white wash herself and has always been vocal against colorism.

#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
Here are exemple of hate comments used commonly against Hwasa stepping from the colorist thinking that darker skinned people smell bad (Hyorin has also been the target of such jokes for her skin color).
#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
Now, let's talk more about Mamamoo not caring about Society 's standards.

Here we have Solar answering to hate comments about her appearance or clothes.
#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
The hate comment about Solar's airport outfits might refer to the time Solar didn't wear a bra and Hwasa wore only a bra.
The two receive an incredible amount of hate for this.

#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
A few days after, Hwasa showed up braless, a way of saying "You didn't like me wearing a bra ? Well here I am without it".
It's also important to note that in Korea, being braless is an important feminist statement.
#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
This outfit choice was also a way to raise awareness to breast cancer

Hwasa received a lot of hate from male, but an huge support from women for doing this.

#MGMAVOTE #MAMAMOO @RBW_MAMAMOO
Here is Hwasa answering "Just eat !" to a female fan asking how to lose weight.
https://twitter.com/PupWheein619/status/1159889100352081925/video/1
Here is Solar bodly announcing that hate won't stop her from being who she is on a National Award.
Now, let's talk a bit about Mamamoo's lyrics (remember : they compose and write their songs).
A lot of their songs center around escaping toxic relationships with men who belittle you.
Egotistic :
Funky Boy + Happy Now (Ha:tfelt feat. Moonbyul) :
They also released a song in which they talk about harassment women have to go through :
Here is a song released for a drama OST (Search WWW) centering around 3 women working in an highly competitive field and having to fight against stereotypes.
WOW :
Here again, Mamamoo changing standards :
1)Solar appeared on My Little TV to once again prove (already talked about it in my thread) that pole dance =/= sexual and is a sport
2)Hwasa changing standards regarding clothing and bodies

@RBW_MAMAMOO #MAMAMOO
#Solar #Hwasa
Remember seeing Mamamoo being called LGBT+ Queens ? Well, as you may have already seen, there is a good reason, and they don't fail to prove it to us again.

Here is Mamamoo taking a picture with a moomoo holding a Taiwan Pride Map (the picture this moomoo is holding was used when Taiwan became the 1st Asian country to legalize same sex mariage).
If you want to learn more about Taiwan.

Today, WheeIn released her 2nd solo "Soar". She featured in her MV a relationship between a female art student who loves her female art teacher who can't reciprocate her feelings and who is in a relationship w/ a man

And the confirmation of the story line by the actress.
Just some little acts of inclusions
Just Hwasa being confident as a woman
And here is what Mamamoo think about them, their music, the empowerment they give to others women about their bodies and capacities.
Women only event.
