My son got an ant farm for Christmas and the ants just arrived today. This might be the most fascinating thing I’ve ever seen.

After we emptied two ant vials into their new home, they immediately started cleaning up the debris and piled it on one side of the farm.

They also moved the ants that didn’t survive the journey into a pile AND STARTED DISMEMBERING THEM!

There’s now a separate pile of ant heads and legs in a corner of the farm.

I’m also pretty certain there was some sort of ant gang battle upon entry into the farm.

There also seems to be an assisted suicide program for ants going on in the center of the farm. Ants that have been barely moving are being carried to the center and after some of the larger ants do who knows what to them, they no longer move.

These euthanized ants aren’t dismembered, but are moved to their own pile.

For those who may be hesitant to believe this, here’s a picture of the farm and another close up of the right corner of the farm. This where they’ve piled the ant body parts.

It’s like a crazy animal kingdom reboot of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Update: As we were sleeping last night, the ants were still hard at work. They cleaned up the entire area and moved the pile of ant body parts to another corner.

And while I was at work they started digging their tunnels and used the spare gel pieces from the tunnels to BURY THE BODY PARTS!

There is now a designated corner of this ant farm reserved as a freaking ant graveyard!
