Do you know how damaging reposting is to fan artists and to content creators in general? For most of us, our primary goal is just to share our creations to get recognition. And for most of us, we simply don& #39;t allow reposting. Here& #39;s why.

Once you take out content from a creator& #39;s account, it& #39;s literally out of our hands, whether it& #39;s watermarked or not, whether you do it with credit or not. Some reposters will try to justify their reason for doing so but the truth is, you& #39;re not doing us any favor. I mean it.

Let me let you on a little secret about web user behaviour: 95% will never READ let alone CLICK on the source to discover the original author. It& #39;s one too many actions for the fast-content consumer on the internet. They save the it, thank you, next.

When the content illegally ends up in selling platforms like Etsy, Aliexpress, Wish, etc., you won& #39;t be the person fighting for its unauthorized use yet you& #39;ve contributed distributing and spreading the material to a point where anyone thinks:
When we confront unscrupulous manufacturers, they hide behind reposters and pretend they didn& #39;t know about its licence.

If you wish to support an artist, reposting is definitely not helpful.

In retrospect, I& #39;d like to add this mostly affects independent content creators, the ones trying to make a name out there on internet. I believe we& #39;re all reposters of something at some point and I& #39;m not here to police copyrights of the greater industries.
*footnote about the web user behaviour commentary: I& #39;m speaking from an UX designer experience where "good" websites should be built with an access to the content in the least of clicks possible within its architecture to improve actual chance of view
Read some artists out there actually happy being reposted. You do you. I don& #39;t pretend to speak on behalf of EVERYONE and this was written from MY perspective as a fan artist where reposting PLAGUES us. There& #39;s no need to be insulting and mocking if your opinion differs, really.
If you believe reposting benefits you, let me show you a quick stat sheets of my most popular artwork that demonstrates web user behaviour: out of ~700k impressions, only a fraction ended up visiting my profile and that& #39;s from direct content... so imagine the loss from a repost.
Banishing reposting helps limiting the true loss of exposure. It& #39;s already hard enough to get recognition on our own so if everyone starts to eat a share of it, we& #39;re left with crumbs at the end of the day.
