Been compiling this for a while. In no way is this a complete list. Selected 22 of my most favorite bits of autobiographical songs from Ilaiyaraaja, written mostly by him, Gangai Amaran and Vaali. Here goes

Probably his earliest self-indulgent song, but he first calls out to his fan. ரசிகனே என் அருகில் வா.

h/t @nom_d_plum when the punditry was dismissive, saying he would be fall by the wayside (ஓரம் போயிடுவான்), his response was "ஓரம் போ" to his critics, with a "பாளையம் பண்ணைப்புரம் சின்னத்தாயி பெத்த மயேன்" (his mother's name is Chinnathaayi). Announcing he had arrived, and how!

Kannadasan said "நான் படைப்பதனால் என் பெயர் இறைவன்"
Ilaiyaraaja said "புது ராகம் படைப்பதாலே நானும் இறைவனே"
