This guy is so bad ass. I need to come up with a campaign to use him in. #dnd
So this artwork comes from Dungeon 133, The Age of Worms adventure path, and it’s a type of undead Giant called raam.
Anyway. He rules Cairnheim. This is his 4e call out.
He also gets called out in 2e’s Drizzt Guide to the Underdark.
Want to visit Cairnheim? Okay. You need to get past an emerald dragon first. She’s aligned to one of the Seven Sisters. Dove Falconhand. Dove died recently, (The Herald novel) but... if you come in her name, the dragon will aid you. Now there’s a campaign already brewing....
The opening paragraph of the emerald dragon entry in 3.5’s MM2 gives us a nice hook for the dragon. Their knowledge of an area is greater than that of sages. This dragon would know about Dodkong. What would that information cost you?
Here's information from 3e's Underdark.
From 3e's Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
Dove Falconhand is one of the Seven Sisters. In current 5e lore she’s dead, but can appear as a ghost. Her sister is the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Laeral Sulverhand, by the way. She was friendly with Behrshimmer, who you’d need to get past on your way to meet the Dodlong.
Dumb typo. Dodkong.
So, what would the end goal be for an stone giant lich? Unite the giants to create an undead giant kingdom?
I can run Against the Giants.... thst’s a somid start. And the level range matches my desire for this to start at 11. This is for my post ToA home group.
Booo. Typos. *Solid start.
@TheEdVerse @brianrjames i’m just going to go to the source. 😀 i love The Dodkong from the Grand History book. What is his goal? I want to make him the big bad guy in a campaign, what drives him, what would be a neat way to use him? How do you all envision using him in a game?
Dragon Magazine #254
Dungeon 133... Raam... a type of undead stone giant
Looks like the Raam was inspired (or is a renamed) by the Rom, an undead giant that appeared in the Al-Qadim Monstrous Compendium co-authored by @monkeyking back in 1992.
Why do I throw myself down these rabbit holes?
Also... Ram and Rom? GTFO.
Tom Costa, who wrote the Dodkong entry in Grand History of the Forgotten Realms, replied to my thread at Candlekeep about the Dodkong. Cc @brianrjames @TheEdVerse

So for my home game (once we finish DH and go back to our ToA party) I think I'm going to create a Dodkong campaig). I'm toying with the idea that he wants to die, but not even he remembers where his phylactery is, so he's willing to destroy the world to make it happen.
He doesn't give a shit what happens to Faerun once he's dead. How he plans to do that, I don't know. Not sure it actually matters. It's something he's plotting and he must be stopped. Do we need to know his plan?
I'll finally use the korreds. I love those guys.
Korreds are fun critters with an interesting hook: "Because of their magical hair
and their mystical understanding of minerals, they are sought after by treasure-hunters, dwarves, and others that desire wealth beneath the earth."
And their hair is enchanted. Cut it with gold shears and it turns to gold. It turns into any material, really. Korred hair: instant McGuffin.
I'll put have a "only a key made of gold from a Korred's hair can open that door!" thing in my game. That's cool. I like those guys. Plus, they fit the lore, we are going to be in caves and inside mountains finding Dodkong
So from Chult, we return to the Sword Coast and I'm going to run Yawning Portal's Against the Giants.. Dodkong's on the move, and the giants are attacking civilization! What did he promise the giants? And the drow?
Anyway, I have plenty of time to flesh it out. AtG will take a long time, and we're still with the low level group in Waterdeep.
