I spent two weeks saving and documenting art from the vintage star trek zine tumblr (occasionally nsfw) https://vintagetrek.tumblr.com/ only to realize it's all up on fanlore already
anyway I'm moved by all these artists that just cared so much about something and I wanna do a thread
look at these illustrations by Shelley Butler... I don't think anyone lovingly 1:1 rendered spock and kirk in graphite more https://fanlore.org/wiki/Shelley_Butler
Gayle F. is probably the most iconic k/s artist for her incredible style and pattern work! It was hard finding examples that were sfw https://fanlore.org/wiki/Gayle_F
Pat Stall's work is high contrast (charcoal?! graphite?) and beautiful and I worship the mirrorverse one :,m https://fanlore.org/wiki/Pat_Stall
Connie Faddis worked with a silk screening print style that I just adore and gave a really unique texture and feel to her art https://fanlore.org/wiki/Connie_Faddis
Vel Jaeger has some of my favorite line weight/black placement. The most delicious balance of stylization and pattern https://fanlore.org/wiki/Vel_Jaeger
Bev Zuk has a wide variety of work from clean color cut covers, to fantasy illustrations, to pinups! A true master of my heart! https://fanlore.org/wiki/Beverly_Zuk
Mike Brown is the only artist I've come across from the zines that used screen tones (though I'm sure there's more). He's known for his spaceship and starscape art but I especially love this Spock. https://fanlore.org/wiki/Mike_Brown
Signe Landon has an incredible body of work and I wish I could post like 6 more. Unique and recognizable by the thinner line weight and attention to (or implication of) detail https://fanlore.org/wiki/Signe_Landon
Chis Soto did my probably all time favorite illustration with Kirk in the water for fanzine Act Five- Fantasies. It's just so tenderly rendered and deceptively simple. Beautiful.

Alice Jones thank you for your dedication to a theme for OBSC'ZINE 1 and 2. Her other ink and graphite work is really phenomenal I just need these to be posted together https://fanlore.org/wiki/Alice_Jones
Tim Courtney's style is high contrast and beautiful. I love her textures and organic linework. ;_; https://fanlore.org/wiki/Tim_Courtney
I'm petering out so I'm gonna end with Ralph Fowler, who doesn't have a page but has a cover credited to him for the zine Stellar Gas. It warms my heart and I think represents loving Star Trek really well https://fanlore.org/wiki/Stellar_Gas
thanks for reading! m(___)m I might come back and add more at another time. I want to reiterate I just got all my pictures and information from Fanlore ( https://fanlore.org/wiki/Main_Page ) and Vintage Trek ( https://vintagetrek.tumblr.com/ ) both of which I am eternally grateful for
There's so many artists I didn't touch on and I didn't even go into writers. Just.. as someone that's been a part of modern zines, no matter what your contribution is- it matters! And even fifty years from now someone will cherish what you did.
Fandom is going to go through a rough spot with the nsfw bans and the new laws but it always at its core has been about loving and enjoying stuff together. Be strong, have fun, enjoy stuff, and vote! thanks!
update! gonna do some more since I somewhat organized my folder and realized I missed some artists I wanted to catch. (apologizes if I have less beautiful epitaphs this time around I'm: tired)
Ann Crouch! What really drew me to her art originally was the modern feel to the first two here. I s2g they could be some kind of napoleon dynamite parody. https://fanlore.org/wiki/Ann_Crouch
Caren Parnes! She gives me the most Romance Novel Cover Artist vibes and I love it. (Her page specifically has a lot of cool info and interviews) https://fanlore.org/wiki/Caren_Parnes
These are by Deeb! People have been loving long haired spock/kirk aus since the dawn of time but Deeb especially dedicated her craft to it and I'm so thankful https://fanlore.org/wiki/Deeb
Merle Decker! Her grainy textures are unique and the tenderness of emotion really shines through.
She's one of the reasons I knew I had to add more to the thread (and like with all artists here, more of their work is available on fanlore) https://fanlore.org/wiki/Merle_Decker

Laurie Huff! I saved her stuff originally because I really liked the comic-vibe from this first Spock piece here. Really clear line work for separating different plains https://fanlore.org/wiki/Laurie_Huff
Michael Verina's compositions, tones, and textures are really good!! Can't believe I forgot to put him in earlier. https://fanlore.org/wiki/Michael_Verina
Marilyn Cole! (u know exactly why I love her art) What I enjoy endlessly about fanzines is artists feeling free to be indulgent and being celebrated for their passion :,3 https://fanlore.org/wiki/Marilyn_Cole
I know I've mostly been focusing on k/s stuff but people do of course draw other characters and notably Gee Moaven has some beautiful Uhura illustrations (esp love the first one that negative space is wonderful) https://fanlore.org/wiki/Gee_Moaven
Ok I'm going to take another break on this thread but this illustration from Interstat 9 is credited to Wilhelmina. https://fanlore.org/wiki/Interstat/Issues_001-010 Wilhelmina, if you're out there? thank you
