Zombie one that got everywhere because we didn’t take the shell off in time is also only one to sprout up and out so far

They each seem to have different kinds of roots, which is interesting. 4th one here is canonically called pincers. First is also visually a zombie but clearly the zombies actually do very well
Turns out it actually moves very fast, just freezes when caught. Will wait til it thinks I don’t see it (hope it hasn’t gone to sleep). Bonus photo from its trail of destruction.
Tried to build a high-rise magnifying glass to get a good picture (phone won’t focus) and it pooped!!
Unless it’s in this tiny pile of leaves, we’ve lost it. Mint has a praying mantis now though, which is cool
Scavenged some sage, repotted some plants (killing the previously too shaded (on account of being too deep in the pot) lychee in the process), and most importantly - started some new avocados. Waiting for spring for the older ones to wake up
Got a couple of sprouts. Any buds the tall one had before winter seem to have died, but it looks like fresh ones are on the way. Short one not looking too happy
New roots. Tall avocado looks like it’s working on several new leaves, which is good. Short avocado looks like it’s dying but here’s hoping it manages to push out a leaf somehow. Not sure what hurt them so bad. Thread suggests it was the repotting :/
The decline and fall of last year’s avocado empire. Hoping at least the one at my parents’ makes it but frankly it seems to be suffering too (suspected salt burn? Tried to give it a long deep water but who knows what will happen)
Anyway now that we’ve figured out the right locations in our new apartment this year’s avocados are finally sprouting. In the meantime, all of last year’s are dead :(
