*UNDERRATED ANIME THREAD*
Summaries will be short cuz I am lazy. Anyone talking about “What about _____” will be ignored LOL this is just MY list y’all :) of course there are a lot of underrated gems but here are SOME:

1. Now & Then Here & There
Dark, action, slight romance, DEPRESSING. This anime will hurt.

2. Wolf’s Rain
Also depressing even the damn art style. A really deep story with some action

3. 91 Days

Y’all knew it was coming. This anime really shows just how bitter sweet revenge is. SUPER UNDERRATED GEM

4. The Daughter Of 20 Faces

Action, slice of life. Little girl becomes a badass just like her father :3

5. Maison Ikkoku

Older romance. Two main characters got on my NERVES but they were made for each other. Really good build up to the romance.

6. Fantastic Children

Dark, mystery, bit of action. Slept on this for so long cuz of the art but it’s really good.

7. Gungrave

Another revenge one but I was actually satisfied at the end lol! A CLASSIC!!

8. Serial Experiments Lain

One of my favorite psychological anime. Had me feeling straight WEIRD after watching it.

9. Ergo Proxy

BEAUTIFUL & DARK. The art is amazing and the story creeped me out too. You’ll get pulled into this world.

10. Ga Rei Zero

Super bloody in the beginning lol but it has cool action. The story is interesting too and you really grow to love the two girls and their bond :’)

11. Shinsekai Yori

Mystery, a lil action/adventure, and a DARK ass twist. This one had me thinking after.

12. Still The World is Beautiful

One of my fav romances. Nike and Livi

13. Alice to Zuoroku

Slice of life and fantasy. TOO FREAKING CUTE

14. The Twelve Kingdoms

Kinda like Outlander except without romance lol. Girl gets sucked into unfamiliar world and adjusts accordingly. She’s AWESOME.

15. Shiki

Vampires, action, BLOOD. That’s all you need to know.

16. Cross Game

My favorite sports anime. That first episode HITS

17. Jormungand

Soooo much action I LOVE it. Koko is my queen. Jonah is my little bro.

18. Claymore

This needs to be talked about way more. Awesome anime centered around strong and beautiful women. ACTION PACKED

19. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

..... I cry a lot in anime but this.... this was something different. I BAWLED.

20. Gosick

Mystery and romance. Cute, funny. And look at Victorique she is just perfect!!!

21. Moribito

Action and adventure. Balsa

22. Gargantia

One of the prettiest anime I’ve watched. Animation is just gorgeous and the world building rocksss

23. Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom

Yallllll this has lots of action and gets super dark. Two assassins. They belong together.

24. The Sunday Without God

Man this was sad to me lol

25. Mawaru Penguindrum

May seem random at first but the adult themes will surprise you. Mystery and fantasy. Some romance too.

26. Cheeky Angel

Old romance. Art is a little wonky but still check it out lol

27. Hamatora

Action, adventure, romance. They all have cool super powers!!

28. KareKano

Rare romance in which the couple actually gets together early on. A must watch!

29. Kodocha

School, romance, absolutely HILARIOUS. A classic

30. Marmalade Boy

You like shoujo? You’ll love this.

31. Lupin III (2015)

Nothing but respect for MY thief

32. Tiger and Bunny

MHA WHO?! Lol jk but yeah this is a really cool superhero anime.

33. Arakawa Under The Bridge

Comedy and romance. Extremely funny.

34. Sket Dance

Comedy and slice of life. Related to Gintama in some way I believe LOL The serious episodes catch you off guard

35. Chrono Crusade

ONE OF THE SADDEST ENDINGS EVER!!

36. Amagi Brilliant Park

Was actually way better than I thought it’d be. A funny and cute slice of life with a nice hint of romance :) Sento is best girl

37. Baccano

Oh wow I’m tripping for forgetting to add this one. A cool, violent, funny adventure. Durarara vibes

38. Bokura Ga Ita

A slept on shoujo. Really cute and sweet. Sad ending :(

39. Kokoro Connect

Friends are able to switch bodies. Romance, drama, slice of life. Inaba

40. Yuki Yuna is a Hero

Looks cute doesn’t it? Well it’s really not :/

41. Jyu Oh Sei

Sigh. Even though the ending pissed me off this one really is pretty cool Action, adventure, pretty dark.

42. Katanagatari

WOO! This one just popped into my head. Let me tell y’all something... this anime is amazing. AWESOME fights. Romance. Lovable characters. Please watch. Look how BEAUTIFUL

43. Chihayafuru

Omg omg omg this anime needs waaaay more love!!! Romance and sports. It’s so freaking cute and the art is so pretty. Arata > Taichi and you CANT change my mind

44. Arpeggio of Blue Steel

A fun watch! Girls and huge ships
Action, adventure, a little romance....

45. Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

I actually did not like this anime after my first watch through but something is making me wanna give it another chance. I’ll recommend it cuz the art is very pretty. Romance and mystery!

46. Girls Last Tour

Two best friends alone in the world, or ARE they?! Slice of life. Friendship. I LOVE

47. Kino’s Journey

What always surprised me about this anime is how dark it could get. Please watch both the old and new version they are both awesome.

48. Tales (series)

We have Symphonia, Abyss, Zestiria, Berseria... this is a really cool series and I hear the games are cool too! Watch them alllll

49. Emma

A Victorian era romance between a rich guy and a maid. Soooooo cute. Forbidden romance >

50. Nodame Cantibile

This is one of my fav music/romance anime. It’s so beautiful omg. Focuses on classical music which I love but the story is much more

51. Little Witch Academia

You may have watched the movie and thought “meh” but trust me when I say the anime is BRILLIANT. Magic, adventure, a HINT of romance but cute nonetheless. Give this one a watch :)

52. Rakugo Shinjuu

A beautiful anime about storytelling. Drama, love, slice of life. This is a hidden gem I’m telling y’all.

53. Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo

First of all I loved the movie so when I heard there was an “anime version” I HAD to watch. It was super different and unique and the art style was pretty cool as well. Dark and sad just like I like em.

54. Kimagure Orange Road

Omg y’all have no idea how long I’ve been trying to remember the name of this one lol!! So, this is a nice older romance and even has a hint of sci-fi! An annoying love triangle at first BUT the best girl comes out on top

55. Mardock Scramble

A series of 3 movies that are dark, depressing, and mysteriously beautiful. Amazing character development. Please give this one a watch you won’t regret it!

56. Maria The Virgin Witch

Just something fun and kinda cute lol sometimes you just feel like recovering from all the serious anime

57. Princess Principal

WAY better than I thought it would be!! The cutest spies you’ll ever meet

58. Barakamon

This anime actually got me more into the slice of life genre in general. It’s really sweet and I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did :)

59. Nagi no Asukara

Honestly one of the most unique romances I’ve ever watched!

60. Kids on the Slope

Music, love, drama... All that jazz

61. Genshiken

College student joins an anime club. HILARIOUS!! It’s also a breath of fresh air from typical high school anime lol

62. The Eccentric Family

I slept on this anime at first Man I was so dumb to push this one to the side for so long but I’m so glad I came back to it. Funny, unique, cute, and magical

63. Kurau: Phantom Memory

Beautiful. Sad. Serene. Strong bonds. This one will leave an impact!

64. Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka

Okay I literally just watched this but I gotta say this was actually pretty dark and bloody TOTALLY not what I expected lol badass magical girls

65. Scrapped Princess

I really enjoyed this one :) Older siblings protect their younger sister because of some kind of prophecy and now people wanna get rid of her or something (it’s been a while) lololol anyway WATCH IT

66. The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

Truly a hidden gem. Nothing more to be said

67. Valvrave the Liberator

Wow I thought I had already put this one in here! I BELIEVE this anime was written by the same people who created Code Geass and it’s pretty similar. But I love how dark and bloody it gets so check it OUT

68. Neuro: Supernatural Detective

A fun watch! If you like mystery and just want something to fill the time, check this one out!! It’s a bit older but I enjoyed it.
