How the Welfare State Affected the Black/Low Income Community: A Thread.

Public Education saw a 900% Increase in Federal Funding during the 60’s, most of which went to Administration.

This resulted in a dramatic decrease in Black American public education and lack of control over the curriculum.

Students who attended Private school were better off.

Minimum Wage Laws made it harder for Local Store Owners to employ the Youth.

To not break the law, they could only afford to hire about 1/4 of what they could’ve prior to.

Hence the dramatic Unemployment Rates among the Youth in the 60-80’s.

Little/No Education.
Little/ No Jobs.

Perfect setup to get on that Welfare line. In many cases it replaced and exceeded entire household incomes.

Black Men preferred odd job hunting, using women’s Welfare benefits, and selling on the black market over Careers.

Low Morale among Men + Govt Aid = “Useless” Father = Absent Father.
