Former inhabitants returned to #Ypres as soon as hostilities ceased and made use of whatever they could - including army Nissen huts. This one is near the ramparts - ideal for an estaminet! (2)
Hotels popped up around #Ypres to receive an influx of pilgrims and battlefield tourists. The Splendid, the Hotel Ypriana and the Victoria Palace appeared near the Menin Gate with trench railway still in situ. (3)
New dwellings started appearing amid the ruins of #Ypres, especially around the Plaine d'Amour (Minneplein). (4)
Various army units still active in #Ypres were keen to get group photos as soon as they caught sight of Ivan with his camera. He made a few bob from this! (5)
