Hey young parent! Speak out! You are not alone on this. Several parents face this issue. Ask for help! Being a parent is already huge. You need understanding and support in work life.
Hey colleague/manager, parents have sleepless nights. They have no time for themselves. They have 2 jobs. They work for you in the morning, they work their baby in the evening. It is very hard! Please be supportive of the parent!
Mother needs 1 year to fully recover from the hormonal changes and affects of pregnancy. She is not only sleep deprived but also physically needs time, she is trying to find a balance.
Breastfeeding moms need to be relaxed otherwise she will loose her milk production. To get the milk production back, she needs to milk herself 1 time per hour for 3-4 days(> 50 times). In this period her baby will be hungry and she might need to give a powder. This is sad.
Especially, for the 1st year after maternity leave please do not expect full performance from parents. Care them in this tough year, then they will care you back will full heart after that.
Diversity is not only considering men and women balance, but considering to how to handle "differences".
