A threaded tale

It’s 4 days after the election and most of our votes have been cast and tallied. I rest uneasy, unsure about mine.

This is my tale of suspicious happenings in a place outside of checks and balances which I’ll call the voter-void.
Was it voter suppression? Was it election tampering? I can’t put that fine a point on it, but quite a few things sent shivers down my spine on the day I voted and in the days leading up to it.

Please, join me on this voter’s disturbing journey through our American democracy.
When I inquired as to why I did not receive my absentee ballot, I was told that others in my district hadn’t received theirs either. The reason? https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🎹" title="Musik-Tastatur" aria-label="Emoji: Musik-Tastatur">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🎹" title="Musik-Tastatur" aria-label="Emoji: Musik-Tastatur">https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🎹" title="Musik-Tastatur" aria-label="Emoji: Musik-Tastatur">

The US Post Office.

It appears a government run agency was responsible for impeding my vote. Scared yet?

An already gloomy atmosphere gripped the nation as I approached my assigned polling location.

A man, clearly agitated and on edge, walked briskly by and said in a distinctly angry tone, “I hope you’re in the right place. They’re sending me to the library.”
I trepidatiously entered the eerily empty polling site and stood second in line.

In front of me a man bickered with the woman behind the table.

Unable to do otherwise, because of both the small quarters and my rising unease, I listened in to end of their hair-raising exchange.
Tensions mounted as the man was told he, too, would have to trek 20 minutes to the library, or vote provisionally there. It was then he uttered these frightening words.

“I have been coming to this location for the last 20 years.”

Without notice, polling locations were changed.
Next it was my turn at the table. I was asked my name and was told I was, indeed, in the correct location. It was what happened next that chilled me.

“You’re signed up as a permanent absentee voter,” the registrar said.

“I never got my absentee ballot,” I said.
“You’ll have to use a provisional ballot,” she said.

“This is not right,” said I.

I had her explain what it means to cast a provisional ballot. I was to fill out an additional form, turn it in, then cast my vote in the booth. My vote would not be counted until later evaluated.
Begrudgingly accepting this as my only option, I filled out the form and turned it in. I was in a short queue awaiting my first foray into the booth when it hit me!

Not one person at that registration table at my polling location had asked to see a single form of identification!
It was soon my turn and I stepped into the unknown. I entered a voting booth for the first time in my life.

I actually laughed out loud when I came face to face with a comic caricature of a voting machine that looked more archaic and less functional than a discarded VHS tape. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😱" title="Vor Angst schreiendes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Vor Angst schreiendes Gesicht">
Do any one of these things spell malice? Not really... But when combined, they created a very disturbing tale.

A recap.

-No Absentee Ballot
-US Post Office Involvement
-Polling Stations Moved after 20 Years
-Provisional Ballot as Only Option
-No ID Presented
-Outdated Machines
