do you want real tea? dan and phil were the first people to do the whole “we like staying inside and being on the internet” thing WAY before it became trendy and mainstream, and now people try to call it a branding but it’s literally who they’ve always been
back in the day social media was all about posting about your friends and being social and fandom culture online didn’t really exist and being an internet dweller literally wasn’t a thing? they were some of the first people to bring that into mainstream internet culture
they were seriously like some of first people to be so open about being awkward & antisocial & spending all their time inside and that is why they found such a loyal audience bc they were ORIGINAL!!!! they still are!!!!
nowadays there are tons of creators who are like “haha i love the internet!!!! fandom culture am i Right!!!!” but dan and phil made that mainstream. if you look at what other people were talking about in like 2012-2014 they were so ahead of the game it’s crazy
people are always like “why do dnp have such a large audience it has to be bc they queerbait” it’s not. it’s bc they were the original ~relatable~ youtubers that gave a voice to a huge portion of internet users that hadn’t really been able to relate to any other popular youtubers
they aren’t successful because of any sort of relationship speculation, they have always been good people with good intentions and good hearts, and they work incredibly hard. their supportive audience is well deserved and i wish the internet would realize that
