For Ss to rise to their highest potential, so they can go into the world as dynamic, compassionate, literate, global citizens we cannot teach them the ways we were taught but for the world they will face.
#InclusiveDesign classrooms would have three core ingredients, we MUST take into account, Ss #identities #abilities #livedexperiences. So it must utilize #UniversalDesignforLearning, #CRRP and #SocialJusticeInquiry. All of this needs to be framed using an #AntiOppressive stance
Remember, schools & rules are not neutral structures. The rules came from somewhere. Schools were used as tools to commit genocide against #Indigenous peoples. We have a #moral & #professional obligation to the #Indigenous peoples of #TurtleIsland and #TRC #CallstoAction 62 & 63

Texts, learning experiences, videos, books, prblms being solved, speakers coming in, trips - need to reflect the Ss in the classroom. We need to learn more about WHO they are, their lived experiences & make sure they see themselves positively reflected in the classroom & school
Think about ourselves, in relation to Ss - who are we? our values? what are our experiences? how are they different/same as Ss we serve? What biases we have? We honour #LivedExperiences, hold #highExpectations & prepare Ss for the world by using #SocialJustice #Inquiry to frame ALL learning in ALL Subjects. It allows Ss to enter from where they are, engage #globalCompetencies & create/innovate shared solutions
The Environment is the 3rd teacher - it should inspire Ss to want to learn, with the best we have available.
It should also engage, Parents, Families, Elders & Community - so that convos extend home & learning is situated in that context #InclusiveDesign

Inquiry should be broad and explore a wide range of possibilities about the challenges that Ss live through and that they will face in the world. In ALL subjects, it should bring learning to life, focused LESS on content, MORE on Learning. The #curriculum is the MEANS not the END
#EarlyYears practitioners #Teachers & #DECEs have the lead on us with this. It would be amazing if these types of Learning Experiences happened all the way through #Grade12 The pic of ideas on the whiteboard gives an idea of how vast the areas of age appropriate inquiry can be!
One broad #Inquiry question allows Ss to enter where they're at; Using a #SocialJustice frame around it, helps to provide boundaries or Inquiry can become too big to support. It would be framed by several #LearningOpportunities (each #LO may be several lessons over several days)
Ss should be given choice how they share their learning keeping in mind their #abilities #passions #interests #identities & #LivedExperiences #AssessmentOFLearning #Summative #ResistExamsOnly We have to Challenge the Verbal-Linguistic ways of showing learning as the "only" way.
Imagine Ss attending a school system where they SEE themselves reflected & feel proud of who they are from #EarlyYears to #Grade12 & learning through SocialJustice #Inquiry innovating & solving prblms. Imagine how we will transform the world #OneStudentAtATime #LetsDoTHIS
