that aside, what a fascinating, touching, intimate couple these two are. I love how they're so often portrayed touching each other lovingly, tenderly

When you look up their story, it's funny how scholarly types seem compelled to emphasize "theirs was a divine love, not physical", and that that's why they never got married

they were clearly hot for each other – in a deep, spiritual, soulful way, sure

It's so tragic that a culture that had such an nuanced appreciation of intimacy has today become so transmogrified – simultaneously obsessed with & terrified of sex, with all this guilt & shame & possessiveness
