Oh My Girl have such beautiful metaphors in their songs that adds this picturesque feel even if itâs a song. What they do is that they have an object or place and they build a world around it.
Itâs very prominent in Secret Garden where they relate flowers growing to feelings and love as well as a young girl blossoming into womanhood as well as Windy Day where wind is described as a person or yet again love who is as catastrophic as it is gentle.
Which is reflected in the song as well! How the instruments change to a Phrygian making it sound chaotic and turbulent contrasting the soft acoustic guitar.
This time, Remember Meâs theme is about fireworks, a love like fireworks. Sudden, beautiful and fleeting. This is a story about a couple who were once a couple and reminisce on their past, both ask each other, âDo you remember me?â as if time had already gone by between them.
The song begins with lyrics like a casual conversation between two ex-lovers, asking what it was like when they were still together and how they were thankful that they met each other.
But for some reason the song doesnât touch on âwhyâ or âhowâ they broke up. Itâs not an angsty, anger-filled song like IDLEâs HANN where the woman in the song forcefully forgets her boyfriend out of spite and hatred, because they both changed.
Both songs start with âDo you remember-?â but have different themes entirely where in HANN the break-up seems very recent and abrupt, but the break-up in Remember Me was a long time ago and there are no more grudges.
That Day by Lovelyz also has similar themes with Remember Me. The song is a transition period between HANN and Remember Me because That Day is about losing all the negative feelings and grudges from the break-up and feeling at peace with themselves and the ex-lover.
In That Day, there& #39;s detachment from both the negative feelings and the lover but in Remember Me, especially Mimi& #39;s lines:
"There won& #39;t be another chance like this, like you said it& #39;s carved"
"No matter how you come back, you& #39;re still in the same spot"
There& #39;s "longing"!

There& #39;s a subtle hint of longing in Remember Me because they remember all the good things in the relationship and as to why they fell in love in the first place,
But the theme here is "firework" and the nature of fireworks is that they don& #39;t last forever. The anticipation before it finally blossoms and shines in the sky, those beautiful sparks should be treasured and enjoyed in the moment, before it disappears into the starry sky.
