finally found one of these again. growing up when my family took road trips my parents would say we could grab a treat at the gas station and my brother and i had a running bit where we’d pretend we were going to pick one of these instead of an actual good treat

some of the ways you could do the bit:
slowly reach your hand towards the Idaho spud while your brother is watching so it looks like you’re going to grab it then last second quickly change directions and grab a kit kat or something

grab the Idaho spud and walk up with it to where mom or dad is in line and stand by them like you’re ready with your treat to pay at the register then when you’re almost up to pay run back and get Reese’s pieces or something

just grab the Idaho spud and go up to your brother and say “I’ve got my treat” (classic)

grab a Reese’s peanut buttter cup or something and go stand in line with your parents like you’re ready to buy it then run back and grab an Idaho spud and get in line THEN last second run back again and get the PB cups and get back to the register

in the car talk about how much you regret not getting an Idaho spud and how you “for sure” will next time

instead of saying something like “i wonder if mom and dad will let us get a treat at the gas station” saying “i wonder if mom and dad will let us get an Idaho spud at the gas station” as if it’s already a done deal. no way anyone would get anything else

Pretending you aren’t getting an Idaho spud only because you want to give “something else a shot” suggesting you always get the spud. Time to change it up

After pulling up to the gas station say to your brother “why don’t you just wait in the car and I’ll grab your treat for you” and if he lets you (he won’t) you get him the spud

at a gas station that doesn’t carry Idaho spuds say you really were going to get one this time but you can’t because they don’t have them and play up how disappointed you are with your treat

saying you thought you and your brother were going to share treats and that HE was getting the Idaho spud. Acting disappointed that you don’t get half a spud due to his decision
