THREAD on DC geography in #JackRyan and that ridiculous bike route:
He begins at Potomac Boat Club. Cool.
Next he is going east at what Google Street View informs me is 35th & N ST in Georgetown (although the steeple in the back appears enlarged). There is already no reason for him to be there, much less going east.

But whatever. About 10 minutes, about a mile.
Now he is at the back of the Jefferson, going west. So I guess he took the scenic route on the DC side of the river and did a loop around the whole Tidal Basin. Nice.

Just under 30 minutes, just under five miles.
Okay now it gets infuriating. He is going west on Pennsylvania. Where on Penn is a complete mystery. I spent an unhealthy amount of time on Street View, and seems to me this intersection does not exist. It appears they edited together 2-3 different parts of the street. Weird.
My best guess for the purposes of this route is 7th & Pennsylvania. And he turns right onto 7th, I guess. He has now gone west to go east, then east to go west, then east to go west to go north. All to go southwest later. Ok, man.

About 45 minutes, just under eight miles.
Tangent here because he goes past Albright's Gun Shop. That shop is in Eaton, MD. Like, on Delmarva. Obviously this is a stand-in for suburban Virginia so for the purposes of keeping some semblance of an actual route, I will ignore it.

But check this out anyway lol:
Finally, he arrives at the Original Headquarters Building. He has now successfully biked from Georgetown around the whole of Southwest and into suburban VA.

A total of just under 18 miles and just under 2 hours. Not bad for a weekend jaunt. Not exactly a great morning commute.
For the record, the actual normal route from the boat club to Langley seems like a totally reasonable commute. Just over six miles and 30 minutes.
