📢📢📢 Results And Conclusions On YouTube Streaming 💡

~ a thread for #BTSARMY by ARMY 💜~

@BTS_twt
Prepare for a very long thread (possibly).

If you don't have that much patience and just want the simplified version, here is the data, here are the guidelines. Enjoy the comeback and let's get that World Record for @BTS_twt!!! Fighting!! 💪💪💪

Army,

I did this because I was terribly crushed when our views were deleted last comeback and when others had better results than us, even though we worked hard and are a very numerous fandom.
I wanted to understand what happened and find ways to prevent it in the future.
Up until now I have tested 82 videos. Part of my research is still ongoing (I am studying streaming from multiple devices), but I can share the first results and conclusions that I drew. I hope they will help you and clear up the misunderstandings or confusion you might have.
First of all, let me say YouTube has gained my utter respect and admiration. They definitely do know what they are doing and they are NOT biased against @BTS_twt MVs. They make sure only legitimate views are counted and have very sophisticated methods to realise that.
Second, let me address the myth that started the craziness in our fandom: that YouTube only counts 4-6 views/IP/day. This has caused Armys to search for ways to hide their IPs, delete history or use incognito, which ultimately came back to bite us in the arse. Deleted views! 😱😭
This myth was, I think, based on the fact that YT checks views in about 6H intervals, which does NOT mean they only count 1 view/interval/IP. If they did, MVs wouldn't have millions of views in a day. Just not mathematically possible and ultimately ludicrous. And I can prove it!
I did a comeback simulation on August 17th, where I mass streamed a MV for 24H. I did almost 350 streams, out of which 315 views were counted. Only 20 views were deleted until the time I am writing this. That means I was able to mass stream a MV with 295/350, from one IP. 🤷‍♀️
As you can see, there is absolutely NO need to hide your IP from YouTube, delete history and cookies or jump through hoops just to get views. 300 streams/person is huge. We don't even need that to break the record, all we need is 1M people doing 50 streams/24H. Piece of cake!
So, how can you get views? Pretty much doing anything you can think of, as long as you don't repeat it more than 5 times consecutively (even replay, refresh and loop give a few views) and you bring some variety by watching other MVs and alternating between streaming techniques.
You can also use playlists, even in the first 24H, even having the MV repeated up to 5 times, then 1-2 other MVs, repeat. As long as you don't leave the playlists running unattended, your views will be counted and validated. Stay logged in and interact with YT every few minutes:
Skip an ad or two (live a little!), like a comment or respond to someone (HINT: they get notified and return to the MV ), skip the last 5 seconds of the MV (as long as you view at least 1 minute, according to my tests, the views are counted). Do this every 15-20 minutes.
What you should avoid doing:
1. Any action repeated more than 15 times (stay with 5, it's a good number) - bot-like behaviour
2. Delete history and cookies after 1-3 views - it may have worked once, but clearly it doesn't anymore
3. Refresh the page more than 1-3 times
4. Use incognito
5. Use playlists at night or when you're not actually present (more recently playlists got paused when idle)
6. Watching less than 1 minute of the MV
7. Mute the MV (muting the PC is ok according to my tests).
The viewcount, as you know, freezes in the first day a lot. I do not know how to change that, but I may have accidentally discovered a way to see the real, updated views by sorting the videos on the channel BY DATE (OLDEST). I tested this on all the vids and they always ad up.
I don't have all the answers, but I have these facts and these numbers. I really hope they can help you and please tell this information to all the ARMY you know, post in all your GC, discord chats, FB groups, YT comments, anywhere!
Streaming is really simple as long as you behave "like a human" would. Remember what you used to do before you ever heard of the word "streaming" and do that! That is the expected viewer behaviour and what counts as "human-like". It should be a fun, exciting experience for you!
I suspected YT checks viewer attendance with ADS! That is why you should NEVER leave playlists unattended (you won't be able to skip them) OR watch ALL ads, all the time. YT thinks you're just not there! SKIP ADS! Especially if long!

I'm continuing this thread with some bad news. YT deleted views from most of the vids I tested. And also from the CB simulation, where I lost 284 views. I was left with 9/350 which is very disappointing, especially since it happened more than a week after I viewed the MV, 8 days.
I hope this happened just from the simulation and will not happen for Idol. I suspected from the beginning that YT's algorithm is different for popular and unpopular videos. However it sucks balls that they delete 20 views, then remain that way for 4 days, then delete 280 more.
So, what does that mean? Well, for starters, YT is strict and annoying AF. We've been known. As for what gets views deleted and what doesn't, what I said before still stands: NO to repeating the same action over and over and NO to playlists unattended, also NO to watching all ads
It seems we can never be too sure about YT, because views can remain constant for 4-5 days, then it deletes massive amounts. I wish we'd find a more reliable platform for viewing MVs and abandon YT. ☹️
