A thread on why Monsta X' 5:14 (Last Page) is so important.
5.14.
May 14th.
Monsta X' debut date.
The day Monbebe got this very special present.
What Monsta X worked so hard for, shedding blood sweat & tears because they devoted a part of their life for this one dream that finally came true.
5:14 will always be a special number.
This song was named 5:14 (Last Page) & it's their promise of love to not only Monbebe, but also themselves as a group.
But they also talk about their darker thoughts, opening up to what we, as fans, can't always see.
They're giving us an inside look in what goes on in their minds
So I decided to write this (probably very long) thread on the lyrics of 5:14 because there is so much to it, and my major class has to be good for SOMETHING bc all we ever do is analyze stuff and that's what I'm good at I guess...

!!!WARNING!!!
It'll probably be a long thread.
5:14 (Last Page) might be Monsta X' most heart-breaking yet geart-warming song bc it talks about this bittersweet love.
Being an idol means working hard and always being criticised, especially by yourself, but also devoting all of your love into your fans and what you're doing.
In the beginning they're saying "We gotta slow it down, remember this moment."
Standing on it's own, this might be one of the most beautiful messages to start a song that's adressed to the people you love. And Monsta X don't just start with it, they also end the song like that.
This world is moving at such a fast pace that we tend to forget ourselves in it.
Slowing everything down, taking a break is not selfish but important. We need to breathe to clear our mind. We need to slow down to be able to live this moment to the fullest& remember it completely.
And this is where they start opening up.
They talk about their feelings and it reflects on the life of not just idols, but maybe also on our lifes.
Because we won't ever be able to know the ending of what we're doing.
But especially as an idol, their job is not a safe one.
Most idols spend all of their family's money on the training periods. They don't earn a lot from their first releases bc they have to pay back their company.
Wonho's mom, for example, got her furniture taken away bc she couldn't pay the rent. In No.Mercy he broke down bc of that.
And they probably still have these kinds of thoughts. Every idol, every star.
Wondering if they'll ever be able to reach their dreams and goals. Wondering if they're enough bc of this constant stress.
"Everyone's probably asleep"
They probably feel lonely at times. Idols are loved by so many, but they probably still feel the most lonely for that reason.
That's why it was so important to me when Monsta X said that they build each other up as a team in a recent interview.
Monsta X are not alone.
They're a team of seven and they'll always be a team of seven, even if the group itself doesn't exist anymore.
And then they start to imagine. Maybe just like they did before their debut.
If everything will turn out well.
And then 5:14 hits. Because they're seeing everything in a different light, noe that they debuted. That's that one special time they share with us, Monbebe.
Mx are saying that they're nothing special in their eyes. That their story is similar to all the other ones. But our ending will not be the same, typical, happy ending bc we're going through all of this together
It's their promise to us:
We'll probably fall asleep together always
Can you imagine something more comforting than falling asleep next to someone? Knowing that they'll always be there to comfort you and that they'll always have your back and will be there for you every night? And even at those lonely times, at 5:14am, they'll be there.
Monfamily.
And now the truly heart-breaking part hits (and it's SO Monsta X):
After the show, when the curtain drops, it's back to real life and they are constantly thinking about how they could improve themselves. They're constantly thinking they're not enough.
But 5:14 is comforting them.
Maybe one of the most obvious parts:
Monsta X are talking about how we, as fans who support them, are able to comfort them.
Even if we're not right in front of them, they can feel the love.
They connect Monbebe all around the world, regardless of race, gender or sexuality.
Then, repeating the chorus and the words from the beginning "We gotta slow it doen, remember this moment" they close this song.
However, this time with another message in their last words.
Now they're directly talking to us.
Remember the moments we have with Monsta X right now.
Monsta X' and Monbebe's story is not a typical story. It's different.
We have been through a lot already. From No.Mercy over not being able to get their first win which pressured them a lot, especially during their debut era to finally being getting what they deserve.
Wow I'm so bad at expressing everything I wanna say but
In 5:14 (Last Page) Monsta X are telling us that they are constantly struggling and doubting themselves and they have talked about this a lot.
However, they're expressing how Monbebe and they, as a group, comfort them(selves) bc they know we'll always be there.
That's beautiful.
When your idols say they love and appreciate their fans they really mean it. Because we're the reason they're able to live their dreams.
Wonho, Jooheon and Changkyun wrote these lyrics. These are their honest and true thoughts and I think it's incredible beautiful.

One day we will turn this last page but 5:14 will always remind us of all of the good times and the memories we made.
Here's the music video, it makes me so emo because all of them always look so happy when performing and I love it.
Thnk you so much for reading.
