THREAD ON Nigerian foods not Egusi, Jollof, Fried Rice and Egusi.
Ekpang Nkukwo, Incredibly time consuming to make, but so damn delicious. Native to the efik's and Ibbio and folks from cameroon. made up of cocoyam, beef, periwinkle etc
Fisherman Soup. This is probably the oldest soup amongst the efik. The efik have long been fishermen by trade due to their proximity to the atlantic. This shows in the soup. Clams, Crab, Lobster, lots of fish. Its to die for
Miyan Kuka. This is the best soup in nigeria, i don't care. Made from Boabab leaves from the Hausa people its made with cow ribs and catfish as well. The taste will surpise you.
AYAMASE aka ofada stew....Oh God what a meal. Yoruba hands down make the best stew. Ayamase sits right on top of that list.
Spicy Smoaked Goat Meat aka Asun, another Yoruba delicacy...My Goodness. The Smell is something else when its being cooked.
Nkwobi, Aka spicy cow foot. This is a mood. You gotta pressure cook the cowfoot and it is garnished with Utazi.
Ok this is the 2nd best soup in naij. Afang soup...another cross river food. Made from Okazi along with water leaf, perinwinkles, pomo and goat meat.
Hausa Masa, also known as rice cakes. This is basically pan fried rice with sugar and salt.
Dan Wake, Another Hausa food that is awesome. It is basically beans dumplings and like eba can be tasteless. But when you eat it with cayenne pepper, egs, onions, tomatoes or even sauce....its magic
Banga Soup/Stew.... BANGS!!! Made up palm fruit, crushed bitterleaves. You can eat it with WHITE RICE OR Fufu
Okra Soup...I really don't rate this, but due to popular demand i will post it...
Owo Soup, A soup well eaten by the Urhobo. Dried fish, shrimp and Ughweri
Edo people where you at? Omisagwe is a popular food eaten by the etsakor people. The Soup is made from groundnuts, onions and tomato and other items
Abak Atama, an efik version of banga soup, the difference being it uses a flavorful herb called atama
somebody once told me that if you can find a woman that can properly made pepper snail u have found a wife. Peppered Snail is the stuff of legends...and the bigger the snail the better.
Miyan Taushe, another northern delicacy that is made from Pumpkin.
Edikang ikong, difficult to make and ppl often make mistakes such as making it watery or adding too much palm oil. When its cooked right its a contender for the best soup in Nigeria. When you visit calabar, this has to be the first thing you eat when u arrive
Efo riro is the best Yoruba meal, Nuff said.
Ogbono, an igbo cuisine which gets its name from the fact that its made up of wild mangos. Ogbono is known to have many good health benefits such as weight loss, aiding in body building etc
Suya...LISTEN, IF THE SUYA IS NOT WRAPPED IN AN OLD NEWSPAPER IS IT REALLY SUYA??? The spices used to roast this, give it its unique taste. With origins in the north this is another contender for the best food in naij.
White Soup or as the Efik call it "Afia Efere" or Ofe Nsala by the Igbo's is HIGHKEY very underrated. Catfish, beef
Kilishi....very problematic to consume. Too tough for my liking, it tastes amazing tho, but u gotta fight to eat it.
Ukwa, another igbo cuisine. Known as African Breadfruit..it is very unique and from the recipes i have seen u don't even need salt for it.
Isi Ewu, OH BOY!....I mean just look at it. Made up of Goat head, utazi and others..
Its not everyday, jollof and fried rice. Nigerian Coconut Rice is so elite.
