FB's conceptual model, as was AOL's, is offer a platform that essentially mimics the internet but control it in such a way to monetize the experience. But, they've not addressed ambiguity of user identity, leaving their greatest asset—users—unprotected & vulnerable to imposters.
A classic example of trying to replicate an organic model, capitalizing on it, but failing to be accountable to "citizens" for damage by MAJOR destructive forces. FB's revenue model is to masquerade as a free society, whose governing body is exploiting it's citizens for billions.
FB is essentially playing the AOL game on a global dimension, mirroring society tho without sovereignty, capitalizing on the very citizens it exploits for immense profit. A model in which democracy is anathema to the shopkeeper's revenue model, and a warzone w/o accountability.
The costs of "FB world wars" manifest in the REAL world, born by FB's greatest asset—users—who pay dearly in the REAL world, while FB banks billions year, after year—real billions, real banks and very real damage to the real societies. A truly flawed conceptual model, to be sure.
