You know what I'm sick of? The "Nazis were left-wing" crap. Please retweet this because people need to understand how alt-right propaganda works. Claiming that "Nazis were left-wing" is "Holocaust denial lite". You know why? 1/13
"Nazis were left-wing" is an attempt to shift the narrative away from "the Nazis were some of the worst evil in modern human history" to "hey, why don't we debate the finer points of Hitler's ideology without mentioning Hitler?" 2/13
The alt-right will proudly trumpet socialists who bought in to early fascist movements, despite those socialists being blithely unaware of what the fascists were up to. This is an attempt to get people to dig into specifics without looking at the big picture. 3/13
It softens the evil because it distracts from the evil. 4/13
As a result, if you miss the bigger picture of "incredibly evil," you might start focusing on the smaller picture of "that doesn't seem so bad." What's really sad is that there are some really decent people I know who've bought this this. 5/13
If you focus on trivia instead of reality, it's easy to forget what really matters. 6/13
When you ignore the big picture, you might forget 6 million murdered Jews. Or the 7 million murdered Soviets citizen (not counting soldiers). Or the 1.8 murdered million Poles. Or the .3 million murdered Serbs. Or the 70,000 murdered gay people. Or, or, or ... 7/13
In Hitler's era, National Socialists used "socialism" as a convenience to attract voters. 8/13
Ask yourself if demanding complete subservience to the state is a left-wing policy or right-wing policy Ask yourself if jingoism is a left-wing or right-wing policy. 10/13
That doesn't mean that today's alt-right members are also murderous thugs, but neither were many Nazis when they started. 12/13
Please don't buy into their propaganda. 13/13
