My Twitter avatar and why it buries Rey's parents and sets up Reylo 😉

The image is from The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi by @PhilSzostak and is concept art for what Rey was going to see in the mirror cave on Ahch-To.
REY'S PARENTS:

The name of the image is "Kylo Kira Force Mash 01" and captioned with, "The first thing I talked about with Rian was the mirror cave."

This means that @rianjohnson was coming up with these ideas so early on that Rey was still referred to as "Kira".
This was before The Force Awakens was released, before the fan theories, and before the expectations Rian supposedly subverted.

Despite debates STILL going on about her parents, to me, the image shows from the beginning, that Rey was NEVER going to see her parents in the cave.
So what did she see?

Rey saw herself because Rian wanted to show "what are Rey's conflicts?”

The thing she would struggle with wasn't her father and her internal darkness, like Luke in the cave on Dagobah, but her journey to find her "place in all this" WITHOUT a legacy.
Now that we've hopefully left Rey's parents dead and buried in a pauper's grave on the Jakku desert, let's talk about why "the belonging [she] seeks is ahead" and why it's this kid named BEN SOLO 😏
JJ and Rian included my avatar and countless other yin yang imagery in the sequel trilogy because Rey and Kylo will come together to bring balance to the Force and the galaxy in Episode IX.
The Prime Jedi concept art is titled "Yin Yang 4" and captioned with “dark and light shapes within each other, representing the BALANCE of dualities and that the schism between them is MERELY PERCEPTUAL”.

What better symbol for Rey and Kylo bridging the divide in Episode IX?
In the TFA commentary, JJ said Rey and Kylo would have an “interesting relationship” going forward.

Rian has said, "I think Rey and Kylo are almost like a dual protagonist."

This doesn't sound like mortal enemies who will stay opposed until the bitter end.
The symbolism continues more recently in the The Last Jedi comic adaption and is emphasized again by its artist @Mister_Walsh.

This concept has NOT been put aside post-TLJ and unlike Rey's parents, shouldn't be forgotten as we wait and theorize about Episode IX 😊
One last thing, “let the past die” has been mistakenly taken as the thesis for The Last Jedi.

This could be farther from the truth.
Kylo represents the entire legacy of the prequels and the original trio, Han, Leia & Luke.

It only makes sense that our symbol of the past comes together with someone new to move into the future of the franchise 💕

Pun intended, Rey and Kylo aren’t just my Twitter avatar but also THE AVATAR of Star Wars.

In Hinduism, avatars are superhuman beings or deities that are embodiments of spiritual perfection and driven by noble goals. https://twitter.com/missporgy/status/1174491780193980416?s=21
