Stevie Nichols from Wizards of Waverly Place had the potential to be an interesting and layered reoccurring character but was unjustly KILLED OFF after 4 episodes and deserved better: A THREAD
1. For some background, Stevie first appeared in "Detention Election" as one of the students in detention. Alex realized they had many things in common and they became friends. She also learned Stevie is a wizard too and she has a brother (Warren) that she no longer speaks with.
2. However, in her last appearance, they find out Stevie is planning a wizard revolution to override the power distributor which takes wizards' powers away after the competition. She plans this because she can't come to terms with losing her powers to her older brother
3. At first, it seems like Alex is going to side with Stevie and join the revolution, but at the last second, she freezes Stevie (Max accidentally shatters/kills her) and transfers her powers to Warren so he can finally be a full wizard. So everything is hunky-dory, right? WRONG
4. Stevie's death was completely unjustified. She wasn't planning on taking over/destorying world like the show's other villains. Like any good revolutionary, she was questioning the current system where only one wizard kept their powers and wanted to change it for the better.
5. Even though Stevie was committing some sort of Wizard World crime, it certainly wasn't punishable by death, especially for a MINOR. They could've taken her to wizard court (which the show will later use) and at the worst put her in jail. But nope, she's evil it's ok she died.
6. The only defense the show gives of killing her other than saying she's evil every 3 seconds was that she unfairly kept Warren in city hall for all that time when she fled the ceremony. Yes, Warren didn't deserve that, but Stevie clearly still cares about him and has regrets.
7. Whenever she talks about Warren, she does so solemnly, genuinely missing the relationship they had with each other before they stopped talking with each other. She even intervened in a feud b/t Alex and Justin because she doesn't want them to end up like her and Warren.
8. If there's anything close to evil activity going on, it's being done by the Russos and Harper. After Max accidentally KILLS Stevie, you'd think they'd feel a little remorse, but no, they have a laugh, draw a moustache on her passed out brother, and leave without a tear shed.
9. As a friend, you'd think Alex would at least try and talk Stevie out of her "evil plan" and try to understand her point of view. Instead, she just betrays her. She doesn't even acknowledge how torn apart Warren and his parents will feel about suddenly losing a sister/daughter.
10. If Stevie hadn't been killed, she could've added new folds to the show. Her revolution could've sparked discussions about the fairness of wizard competitions and other wizard world issues. Her and Warren's role as a parallel to Alex and Justin could've been further explored.
11. In conclusion, Stevie was wrongfully killed off and could've been a deep and interesting character but instead the Russo's and Harper cruelly blew off her death because apparently all revolutions are "evil". Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
