Due to late night stirrings in the DMs, I'm going to circle around the topic of the 12th Parts.
These are subdivisions (or calculated points) of the signs. Following the subdivisions, also known as duodecima (Latin) or dwadasama(or dwads, from India), the signs are divided up into twelve 2.5° degree subdivisions.
There's a digression I'll avoid here, about how the planets mark out various subdivisions of the signs; Jupiter is the one responsible for the duodecima.
The first division is assigned to the sign itself, the rest in following zodiacal order. For example, the first 12th Part of Leo belongs to Leo, next to Virgo, 3rd to Libra, and so on.
There is a calculated version of this, the dodecatamoria, mentioned in Paulus among other places, where one takes the degree of a planet and either multiplies it by 12 & casts it forward from the placement, or multiplies it by 13 & casts it forward from the beginning of the sign
Either of these gives the same, which is a degree in some other sign. These are not always in the same sign as is given using the 2.5° division, and the mention of the two calculations is odd, and implies a soli-lunar paradigm to that version.
ANYWAY, how to use all this. There is scant reference of using the 12th Parts in the Hellenistic sources. Stuff like "if the 12th Parts of the Lights fall into signs of malefics, the native comes to misery", that kind of happy, feel-good affirmation
IMO that just means that the native's mind tends to go and linger on sadness and despairing thoughts
For the subdivisions, the sign given for particular 12th Part gives a topic in the native's life that of interest to the planet but that might not be obvious. It's not at the level of proper delineation on that topic unless there are weighty considerations, i.e aspects et al
For the Asc degree, its lord, and the Moon, they can show deeper motivations of the native, marked by the topic the sign holds natally, and sometimes these motives may be unknown or unrecognized by the native.
For the Asc degree and some prominent placements, like planets in phasis, their particular 12th Parts and significations may come off as the native's public persona.
The calculated version could be handled in a similar manner, but there's probably something more esoteric going on with that and it's probably not the place to start with in using this concept.
