Hey y'all I want to take this time to explain the difference between Supporting someone and Validating them.
Support can be someone encouraging you to 'be yourself' and 'push through persecution'
Valdiation is someone saying 'there is nothing wrong with feeling the way you do'
Many people 'support' LGBTQ people without validating them. You can say 'i think all people should have equal rights and shouldn't be treated differently based on orientation and gender' but if you also say 'i wouldnt want to sleep with a trans woman because I'm straight' or...
'I wouldnt date a bisexual because they may decide they are gay/straight and leave me' you are NOT validating them. You support their right to equal treatment but you dont think their feelings are valid and that is an even bigger problem than you think it is. #pride
