A quick thread on the DPRK and African and diaspora liberation movements. I hope it reaches someone who didn’t know before.
President Kim Il Sung stressed the importance of material and political solidarity with African countries anti colonial struggles after the DPRK’s victory over two imperial powers.
President Kim Il Sung was a staunch opponent of both South African and Zionist apartheid. He often drew direct connections between the two.
The DPRK offered African nations material support against colonialism and for African self determination even if that meant the DPRK had to “tightens it’s belt” to encourage and maintain solidarity.
Mozambique’s revolutionary president Samora Machel praised President Kim Il Sung for inspiration and support for Mozambique’s anti colonial revolution.
The friendship, gratitude and solidarity between the DPRK and African nations is long and lasting. Here is President Kim Il Sung being received in Algeria by a Zambian delegation. Listen closely to the chant “1 Africa, 1 Korea”
Even today the US imperialist and it’s junior partners continue to threaten African nations for remembering and maintaining ties to the DPRK.
During the US imperialist war of aggression Korean revolutionaries pleaded with Black soldiers (thru distributed pamphlets on the battlefield) to reconsider their position based on observations of Black oppression in the US. I ask where was the lie then and where is it now?
The Black Panther Party saw the DPRK as a source of inspiration for their revolutionary praxis and even sent a delegation to the DPRK to meet with President Kim Il Sung and other officials to exchange ideas.
President Kim Il Sung said of the Black Panther Party and Black liberation movements in the US “its a just struggle to abolish the cursed system of racial discrimination of the US imperialists.”
In light of Black liberals parroting the imperialist line and white liberals going as far as claiming the citizens of the DPRK “don’t know Africa exists” we gotta push back with facts. I hope this was a useful even if small part of that push back.
