Non book resources for aspiring socialists/communists looking to learn more about communist figures, history and theory: a thread!
Before I go on, I would like to stress that reading as much theory and other books as you feel capable is still important to having an understanding and guide to your praxis.

However, I wanted to compile this list for those of us who struggle to focus.
RevLeftRadio:
An excellent podcast hosted by @DeadIrishRebel

There are so many episodes covering topics/tendencies all throughout the Left. I highly recommend this for anybody looking to broaden their understanding of communism, socialism and more! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/revolutionary-left-radio/id1218054701?mt=2
Millenials Are Killing Capitalism:
Another excellent ~Left~ podcast hosted by @queersocialism and @jaybeware

They focus more on the ongoing process of the liberation struggle and present issues/organizations within the movement! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/millennials-are-killing-capitalism/id1292638162?mt=2
LeftPOC:
All too often the liberation struggle and the stories behind it can become whitewashed and liberalized, however, this podcast focuses exclusively on Left People of Color and their stories. Definitely worth checking out!

Scene On Radio: Seeing White-
If you are a white leftist (particularly one living in the imperial core) this is a REQUIRED listening in understanding the way whiteness/colonization have shaped our world.

I cannot recommend this podcast enough. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/scene-on-radio/id1036276968?mt=2
The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution-
An excellent PBS documentary about The Black Panthers and the course of their movement’s history! I found it on Netflix personally but if you don’t have a subscription you may also be able to find it on the PBS website/google.
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised Chavez: Inside the Coup-
Another fantastic documentary filmed inside Venezuela during the attempted military coup of Chavez in 2002.

This shows what really went on & the impact of media/propaganda.

The Cuba Libre Story-

An amazing 8 part Netflix documentary series about Cuba’s history since it’s beginning, the Revolution and today.
El Che-
For anyone who wants to learn why Che was one of the best revolutionaries of our time, please watch this on Netflix.

It’s amazingly well done and gave me so much hope personally as a comrade. Long live Che Guevara's legacy and long live the Revolution!
Thomas Sankara: An Upright Man-
Documentary chronicling Sankara’s leadership and betrayal in Burkina Faso.

He’s yet another amazing revolutionary that those on the Left should be familiar with.

She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry-
Though I would have liked to see more Women of Color’s voices (particularly Black Women) throughout and I definitely don’t like Steinem, this documentary on Netflix does still give a good account of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the US!
They Say They Will-
A documentary about the Revolutionary Communist Party in the USA, with tons of great interviews and information!

Black and Cuba-
A documentary about Black students from Yale that visited Cuba! Filled with great interviews and footage in Cuba, about the country and it's revolutionary ties to the Black struggle in the US and around the world.

On Amazon prime/youtube (for $4)
Viva Venezuela-
A documentary about Venezuela and their current struggle towards socialism! Lots of amazing interviews with different people including those directly involved with the socialist programs, the working class, marxists, etc.

Exposing Imperialism in Haiti-
Both an infuriating and deeply sad documentary about the conditions in Haiti and the violent overthrow of their people's government by the US through the usage of media and paramilitary troops funded by the CIA.

My Brothers and Sisters in the North-
A documentary about a visit to the DPRK w/ interviews about themselves and their lives of tons of different working class people living there. A heartwarming and stark contrast from what US media tries to depict.

Proles of the Round Table-
A wonderful podcast (@ProlesPod) that brings a bunch of proles together to talk history through a Marxist-Leninist perspective. Everyone is fantastic & they do a great job of balancing out serious information w/ comedic relief! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/proles-of-the-round-table/id1406188866?mt=2
