Here’s the story of how HypeDocs started!
3 years ago, I had just started my new job @CashApp @Square. I’d lost a lot of confidence in myself, and felt imposter syndrome joining a company with such talented developers.
My manager at the time, @alanppaulin, didn’t know about any of this but recommended I start tracking work wins in a HypeDoc - a living list of all my achievements. I could very quickly start feeling the positive impact that tracking my wins had on me.

Now the standard @googledocs we were using was fine, but my mind craved more power over my HypeDoc. So I started tinkering. I wanted to track the date, add categories and provide context, so turned the Google Doc into a Spreadsheet instead.
I wanted to update my @HypeDocsCo once a week but kept ignoring the calendar reminders I set. Instead, I found some friends in the office. We met once a week, updated our HypeDocs together, celebrating wins, and discussed struggles. This worked so so well!
I finally had a good rhythm going, and wanted to optimize the types of things I tracked. I realized I should track all my achievements - whether they were personal or professional, big or small. I also started assigning goals to some of them, for example getting a promotion.

- Getting my advanced deep diver certification
- Learn how to make chilli paneer
- Launch @CashApp in the UK
- Get selected as an Emerging Leader by @readthepeak

One use case of @HypeDocsCo that I love is using it to set goals. I talked to my manager about wanting a promotion. We created milestones I needed to hit, and then tracked my wins towards these goals on my HypeDocs. This became a quantified list of reasons I deserved my promotion
HypeDocs has definitely helped me rebuild my confidence and provided me with the tools I need to make sure imposter syndrome doesn’t stop me from doing the things I love.
I wanted to share this feeling with my friends, and that’s when the lightbulb turned on.

I built the original version of @HypeDocsCo over 4 days, largely inspired after watching @jlengstorf’s @LWJShow videos on YouTube. I launched, and got 5 paying customers straight away!
I continued iterating and building, and now have over 100 users, and 3 businesses signed up!
