creating local, regional & provincial LTC steering committees that are representative of the community & engage stakeholders using diverse forms of knowledge, perspectives & skills to guide:• continum of care development
• LTC redevelopments
• piloting new models
ensuring the 79,000+ people in LTC & 35,000+ on the waiting list are in best care setting for them:• small group homes
• sufficient care at home
• naturally occurring retirement communities
• affordable retirement housing
• smaller LTC bldgs
• complex continuing care
upholding the human rights of people living in or needing LTC by building them into care practices & quality measurements
accomodating disabilities & communication issues
Providing adequate funding that keeps up with inflation. We all will need some form of LTC one day
ensuring enhanced humane care & living standards are met, otherwise LTC operators penalized with:• sliding scale fines depending on org size & profit status (fines feed back into funding)
• gradual or immediate license revocation depending on offence severity & frequency
equally weighing quantitative & qualitative humane care & living standards to ensure perspectives of staff, people living in LTC & family are collected in safe & meaningful ways with:• no fear of reprisal
• accomodation for disabilities, communication issues & schedules
research design, implementation, data collection, analysis & sharing use intersectional gender-based analysis (iGBA+) framework for:•equitable participation
•reduce power inequalities
•comprehensive info to advance policy, practice & system change
