alright so i’m at randwick prince of wales in the queue for the covid-19 test
finger in the air estimation... there’s about 80-100 people in the queue in front
dude behind me in the queue is coughing profusely and refusing to keep 1.5m from me
security has stopped the queue at the person behind me. this testing center closes at 7pm, and the estimated wait according to security is it’ll take the remaining time to close to process the test of us
everyone else is being told to go to a 24 hour clinic or come back at 9am
staff have come out and reassessed the queue. they’re gonna reopen the queue for 30 mins, because they’re testing faster than yesterday and think the end of the queue will be reached at 6:30
the first new patient has joined the queue
now 11 new patients since the queue reopened
fair bit of attrition in the new additions. family of 4 just left after waiting ~5 mins
ok so i’m now at about 40 position from the front of the queue. which means testing is around 50-60 per hr at this clinic if my initial estimate of crowd length was right
yep! so according to the form, i’ll be around the ~500th person to be tested today. clinic opened at 9am today (8 hours ago). there’s about 20 people in front of me putting the testing rate at around 60/hr
and all done. queue time 1:40 hours, about 1:20 shorter than originally estimated.
