Former J&K CM Farooq named as beneficiary of land given away to influential people in Roshni scam. As per details put out by J&K admn, he encroached upon govt land at Sunjwan in Jammu. The pvt residence built by him is on state/forest land
In 1998 Abdullah bought 3 Kanals from diff land owners, on a private khasra number 21 situated at a different location in village Sunjwan, Jammu. However, instead of taking possession over 3 Kanals of this pvt land he encroached upon 7 Kanals of nearby prime state & forest land
According to J&K govt sources, this represents a case of not just encroachment but misrepresentation and fraud. The market value of the encroached land is around Rs 10 crore, as per prevalent land valuation.
