one of the peskiest lines of reasoning that i have come across is that Chinese people are lazy to respond or counteract govt hawkishness in overseas spaces and it often comes from people that do not account for risks taken and erase work being done by Chinese diaspora

if there is no potential scenario where you would respect what a Chinese diaspora person does, why would they want to go out of their way to prove anything to you? idk idk idk

there is an expectation of a Chinese-person-doing-critical work on china to have obedience to overseas spaces, institutions and

most importantly

mostly white practitioners

that is make it or break it for younger people lol

this is precisely why you get dissidents that will overlook or do not know about American institutional harm elevated and people grappling with active parts of China& #39;s institutions but who are more lukewarm towards America get buried
