I started out with a heavy duty paper plate. It’s firm, and has a nice shape! This particular brand even has a bit of texture on the underside!

I started out with a heavy duty paper plate. It’s firm, and has a nice shape! This particular brand even has a bit of texture on the underside!
Next, drew on the Hooty basics in pencil. The eyes on this one are a tad big. I used the base of a styrofoam cup to draw the circles, and it was a bigger cup than the original one I had used.
No matter! It’ll all be painted over, but this way it’s like a color by number! XD

I used regular craft acrylic paints that I got at a craft store. I just picked colors as close as I could find to a screenshot. No patience here for mixing paints!

I didn’t want to mess up the little lines on the edge of his face, not after coming this far.
I found some masking tape, and painted about 2 inches black, with craft paint. Then I cut out little stripes! Bingo, strait lines.
They can be trimmed to size and they stick in place!

I made a ‘hanger’out of cardboard. It’s paper in this picture just to show the shape.
I glued the smaller side to the back of the plate, and used a double-sided adhesive mounting strip to stick the other surface to the door!
It was one of those removable strips so no door damage.
