[THREAD]How to tackle blank Gameweek 1
All the advantages and disadvantages of the different options us FPL managers have for BGW1
With United, City, Burnley & Villa set to miss GW1, FPL managers are being left with a headache over what to do with assets from these clubs.
In this thread I will try and make this a lot easier for you and run you through the pros and cons of all the options we have
In this thread I will try and make this a lot easier for you and run you through the pros and cons of all the options we have
Early Wilcard The first option we have is an early wildcard. This would involve us selecting a team for GW1 or the first few GWâs, then wildcarding to a more long-term team once all clubs are back playing.
Advantages:
Can target teams with good fixtures in the opening GWâs
Wonât need to take hits to revert to a long-term team
Can make unlimited transfers to revert to your perfect team

Disadvantages:
Uses up a valuable wildcard which could be crucial for managing a compact schedule later on in the season
Wonât give you enough time to see who are good long-term picks

Benching blank assets in gameweek 1This would involve selecting a team including players who are blanking in GW1 but just Benching them.
Disadvantages:
Youâd have to build a team with a strong bench to replace them players in GW1
Youâd need to have limited assets from blanked teams to ensure a full playing team in GW1
Youâll have a lot of money on the bench in GW1 which could result in a poor score

Starting without blank players then introducing them with FTâsThis involves starting the season without United/City/Burnley/Villa players and then introducing them with transfers once theyâre back playing again.
Advantages:
Saves a valuable wildcard
You can target blank players fixtures more e.g donât bring City assets in until GW4 when their fixtures are easier.

Disadvantages:
Will be more likely to take hits to get blank players back
Players are more likely to rise in price if you do it gradually
You may not be able to get all the blank players you want.
It will take time/may miss good fixtures for blank players

The thing that makes BGW 1 so hard to manage is how many good assets these 4 team have between them:
Ake, Laporte, Walker, KDB, Sterling, Mahrez, Foden, Jesus, Aguero
AWB, Maguire, Fernandes, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial
Pope, Taylor, Tarkowski
Grealish

Although it may be difficult, one thing I can guarantee is that this BGW will only benefit the better FPL managers and the ones who put more time in. The top managers are likely to be separated from the less enthusiastic managers very early on this year. See it as a positive.
[END OF THREAD]I hope this has helped some of you and given you a clearer idea of how you want to approach BGW1
