1) I’ve lived in the Eastern Cape for half my life, I’ve experienced the effects of corruption and poor service delivery, I’ve gone so many times to hospitals in Mthatha and NMB were I see people lined up in corridors waiting for beds, I’ve seen the poor attitudes of nurses and
2)other public servants towards citizens. I’ve seen the dirt in the streets and the rot in our roads. I’ve seen the beautiful lavish cars public servants drive while municipalities callapse, I’ve watched grandmothers waiting in long queues for medication hours at a time waiting
3) for medication that will never comes. I’ve waiting in long queues at Home Affairs and Clinics only to be told I would not be services. Ive watched as one Acting MM comes to replace another, millions spent on golden handshakes. thought I had seen it all, covered it all
4) but nothing prepared me for the past seven days. I finally understand why the province is incapable of provinding services. It will take years to wipe out the rot. It will take a miracle to break the system. This will not be the work of government, it’s all up to communities
