It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve done a Duke player breakdown, but I want to give my thoughts on the defensive anchor @MarkWi1liams https://twitter.com/_dericksmith/status/1268205278673190912
Williams won’t be forced to dominate in the post like Okafor/Carey Jr. because Duke has plenty of scoring options at the 1-4. He’ll be able to fill his role perfectly as a defender, rebounder, and energy guy on offense. However, his offensive game is better than advertised
Another post score from Williams. Nothing fancy, but he uses a solid pump fake and very few will be able to block a pure 7 footer
Good post fade-away jumper. He’s not a lights out shooter, but he can really increase his NBA stock if he continues to make shots like this with his heigjt
What a finish through contact. Williams was last listed at 230 and I can almost guarantee that he’ll be more than that by the time the season kicks off. Shots like this will get even easier as he gets stronger.
I love the way Williams runs the floor as a big. Often times, big men trail but Williams is one of the first down the court, wisely pump fakes (he uses it very well), and finishes strong for 2.
